Pentagon Plan to Defeat ISIS Willful Deception

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)

Trump’s plan resembles Obama’s – aiding ISIS and other terrorist groups, using them as imperial foot soldiers while pretending otherwise.

According to the neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post, Trump’s “core of the strategy is to deny territory to the militants and ultimately defeat them, and to stay out of Syria’s civil war pitting the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad, Iran and Russia against domestic opposition forces.”

Fact: Core US strategy involves redeploying them elsewhere in Syria and Iraq, along with using them in Central Asia, the Philippines, and likely elsewhere.

Fact: Trump inherited Obama’s war, naked aggression against a sovereign state threatening no one. No civil war exists. Syria was invaded by US-supported death squads, fighters recruited from scores of countries.

Fact: So-called “opposition forces” are terrorists. No moderate rebels exist.

Belligerence by US-led coalition forces belies Defense Secretary Mattis and Pentagon officials saying they don’t want war with Syria or Iran.

WaPo: “White House officials…consider Iran’s increasing presence (in Syria) a hindrance to (Washington’s) pursuit of the Islamic state, and an attempt by Tehran to consolidate postwar control.”

Fact: America supports the scourge of ISIS and other terrorist groups it pretends to oppose.

Fact: Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are on the right side of history, aiding Syria against US-supported terrorists, elements vital to eliminate.

Fact: Syria, Iran and Russia aren’t seeking “to plant their flags in the desert” at the expense of other countries. They seek regional peace and stability – an agenda polar opposite US imperial aims, together with its rogue allies.

Fact: US-led coalition forces aren’t seeking “to eject the Islamic State from Raqqa,” its self-declared Syrian capital. They’re redeploying their fighters southeast toward Deir Ezzor, government troops aiming to smash them.

On Wednesday, National Security Advisor McMaster lied, claiming “Iran is feeding this cycle of sectarian conflict to keep the Arab world perpetually weak.” Truth is polar opposite.

He disgracefully blamed Tehran for much of Syrian suffering, ludicrously saying 80% of fighters allied with Syria are Iranian proxies.

He belligerently said “(w)e could do a lot better to pull back the curtain on Iranian actions.” He turned truth on its head claiming “we are in Syria to destroy ISIS” – the scourge Washington supports.

A same day article suggested Washington and Israel may be colluding to escalate conflict in Syria because Russia, Syria and its allied forces are effectively smashing US-supported terrorists.
