More Evidence of Turkey Supporting Terrorists in Syria
by Stephen Lendman
Allied with Washington’s imperial agenda, serving its own unfulfilled aims for control over northern Syria, Turkey affords ISIS and other terrorist groups safe haven on its territory.
It sells stolen ISIS oil, Erdogan, his family and other top regime officials profiting hugely. Armaments and other material support are steadily supplied.
An RT International film crew witnessed Turkish vehicles crossing into Syrian territory near Azaz, partly controlled by Jabhat al-Nusra.
Its correspondent Lizzie Phelan reported exclusively from dangerously close to the front lines, traveling with Kurdish YPG fighters, saying:
“We can actually see here the important border town of Azaz, that Turkey is determined to prevent YPG from taking.”
“Just a little beyond that you can see the Bab al-Salam border crossing and a heavy flow of vehicles coming from Turkey into Azaz.”
“When we zoom in, we can see Turkish military vehicles, probably around a kilometer away, maybe less. And just in front here’s another small village that YPG say Al-Nusra uses for training.”
“Beyond that, we can see the Turkish flag flying. That’s on the Turkish side of the border, and through there the YPG says they monitor a regular supply of weapons coming from Turkey to that Al-Nusra camp.”
Volumes of indisputable evidence prove Erdogan actively supports ISIS and other anti-Syrian terrorist groups. No moderate ones exist.
Erdogan claims the right to shell cross-border on the phony pretext of protecting Turkish security and combating the terrorist elements he supports.
Head of Russia’s ceasefire monitoring center General Sergey Kuralenko says Turkey’s belligerence and support for terrorist groups threaten to undermine efforts for conflict resolution.
Obama is the key problem, not Erdogan. Turkey, Saudi Arabia and other anti-Syrian rogue states are bit players.
Longstanding US policy calls for regime change, destroying Syria’s sovereign independence. Cessation of hostilities and peace talks beginning next week changed nothing.
Conflict continues raging. Nothing in prospect suggests resolution any time soon – maybe not for years or longer.
