John Kerry’s Big Lies on Syria
by Stephen Lendman
Wars need supportive lies to sustain them. Truth is their mortal enemy. Kerry’s involvement in Obama’s war on Syria makes him culpable for one of history’s great crimes.
Addressing US NATO partners in Brussels on Tuesday, he repeated Big Lies long ago exposed. America is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism.
Kerry turned truth on its head claiming US leadership in combating it. “(W)e have to persist in our effort to end the conflict in Syria,” he said – failing to explain Obama’s war for regime change, its responsibility for mass slaughter and destruction.
Calling endless conflict “a magnet for terrorism and the worst human humanitarian disaster since WW II” ignored America’s plan to transform all independent nations into US vassal states – naked US aggression raging in multiple theaters to achieve it.
Kerry shamelessly blustered “(a)s we know (sic), this tragic war has been made worse by the utter depravity of the regime that doesn’t hesitate to still use gas, chlorine mixed with other ingredients to kill its citizens; that drops barrel bombs on hospitals and children and women.”
“You also have the irresponsible and profoundly ill-advised decision by Russia to associate its interests and its reputation with that of Assad, a man who has been responsible (for) perpetuating this extraordinary slaughter of his own people.”
“(W)e are not giving up on the Syrian people. We are not abandoning the pursuit of peace…We are going to continue to try to find a way forward in order to end this war.”
“We remain committed to a peaceful, stable, whole, united, nonsectarian Syria, and we’re going to continue to stay active in the pursuit of peace.”
Fact: Washington wants war, not peace, its regime change strategy regardless of the cost in human lives and suffering.
Fact: No evidence connects Assad to use of chemical or other banned weapons. Kerry lied claiming otherwise. US-supported terrorists alone are responsible for horrific atrocities – Washington endorsing and encouraging them.
Fact: Assad together with Russia are responsibly defending Syrians, combatting the scourge of US-created and backed ISIS and likeminded terrorist groups.
Fact: America sacrificed the lives and welfare of millions of Syrians by waging naked aggression on them, endless war with no prospect for resolution.
Fact: Washington is committed to endless genocidal slaughter – not a “peaceful, stable, whole, united, nonsectarian” nation, as Kerry despicably claimed.
Fact: Geneva ceasefire terms failed because neocons making US policy sabotaged them. Diplomatic conflict resolution remains unattainable because Washington wants endless war, Assad toppled, Syrian sovereignty destroyed, achieving another imperial trophy – at the expense of Syrian sovereign independence and freedom, what Kerry and other US war criminals never explain.
A Final Comment
Russia criticized Washington’s decision (together with Britain and Ukraine) to block a Security Council statement denouncing the shelling of Moscow’s Damascus embassy by US-supported terrorists – showing their support for what they rhetorically oppose.
Russian lawmaker Sergey Zheleznyak said perpetrators will be identified and punished appropriately, exposing their connection to Western interests.

I often wonder how imperial scoundrels sleep nights. How do they justify their high crimes to themselves, loved ones and friends? Just societies would hold them fully accountable. America ruthlessly defends the indefensible.
