Ukrainian Nazis Attack Donbass Overnight
by Stephen Lendman
Obama-installed Kiev putschists continue intermittent attacks on Donbass freedom fighters and residents – aggression begun after the US-sponsored February 2014 coup.
A Sunday Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attack was launched in areas near the Donetsk airport, Yasinovataya and Avdeevka, according to Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Deputy Defense Minister/spokesman Eduard Basurin, saying:
“This morning, the Ukrainian criminal command launched another provocation…The enemy attacked our positions with up to a platoon, which resulted in the DPR People’s Army units being forced to open respond fire.”
Nine AFU soldiers were killed, another 15 wounded, he said. Right Sector Nazis were involved, Basurin saying they “carried out…a barrage fire on (AFU units, using mortars) to prevent their retreat” after DPR freedom fighters effectively countered them.
The latest attack may, in part, be related to concern in Kiev over possible Russia/US cooperation in combating terrorism and other issues of mutual interest – including resolving conflict in Ukraine, a priority for Moscow since 2014.
On Monday, AFU shelling continued. Six villages south of the DPR lost electricity. Donetsk’s central water facility stopped functioning because of lost power. Repair is underway to rectify things.
Ukraine wants a seat at the table regarding Russia/US relations, a demand Trump is unlikely to countenance – a Nazi-infested failed state, telling its political, economic and military patron what it expects, including wanting continued support for endless war on Donbass.
Trump’s policy on Ukraine so far is unknown. Will he continue supporting its putschist regime or go a different way, a key issue for Moscow?
