Kellyanne Conway’s Harmless Faux Pas

On Fox News, she harmlessly erred, saying “(g)o buy (Trump daughter) Ivanka’s stuff…It’s a wonderful line. I own some of it. I’m going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today.”
Campaign Legal Center general counsel Larry Noble suggested she broke the law, saying it “(a)ppears (she) may have just violated (the) ban on federal employee(s) using public office for endorsement of product(s).”
According to US law, “use of public office for private gain” is prohibited. “An employee shall not use or permit the use of his (or her) Government position or title or any authority associated with his (or her) public office to endorse any product, service or enterprise.” Some exceptions apply.
In response to Nordstrom dropping his daughter’s apparel line, Trump tweeted she “has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!”
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said “I think this was less about his family business and was an attack on his daughter.”
“He ran for president. He won. He’s leading this country, and I think for people to take out their concern on his action or his executive orders, on members of his family, he has every right to stand up for his family and applaud their business activities (and) their successes.”
Media scoundrels are all over this story, while suppressing what should be featured on major world and national issues.
It’s part of their gratuitous Trump bashing, extended to Kellyanne Conway, his daughter Ivanka and others.
The New York Times blasted “Kellyanne Conway’s White House Infomercial.”
The neocon, CIA-connected Washington Post said the Conway “incident was the latest illustration of how the Trump White House has struggled to grapple with long-established ethics rules…”
The Wall Street Journal said Conway’s “(r)emarks raise questions (of) whether she violated ethics rules.”
AP News quoted House Oversight Committee chairman Jason Chaffetz, saying her remarks were “wrong, wrong, wrong, clearly over the line, unacceptable.”

USA Today headlined “Key lawmakers seek probe of Kellyanne Conway’s ‘go buy Ivanka’s stuff” message.
Admittedly she erred, boosting Ivanka Trump’s clothing and jewelry line – a harmless act, unlike endless horrors America inflicts on humanity at home and abroad.
That’s an issue to be furious about – policies media scoundrels support instead of responsibly condemning them.
Conway’s action in comparison was a tempest in a teapot, as the saying goes.
His new book as editor and contributor is titled “Flashpoint in Ukraine: How the US Drive for Hegemony Risks WW III.”
