Another Phony Accusation About Russian US Election Meddling
by Stephen Lendman
Repeated accusations about Russian US election meddling were fabricated. No evidence suggests it because none exists.
Accusations won’t quit, the latest from Reuters, headlining “Exclusive: Putin-linked think tank drew up plan to sway 2016 US election – documents,” saying:
Three current and four former anonymous US officials said so – anonymity an obvious red flag. Their evidence: none.
Their fabricated claim is based on two fabricated documents “US intelligence agencies” claimed they obtained post-election – from a so-called Moscow-based “Russian Institute of Strategic Studies,” allegedly run by former Russian intelligence officials.
According to Reuters, unnamed current and former US officials claim “a strategy paper written last June that circulated at the highest levels of the Russian government but was not addressed to any specific individuals.”
“It recommended the Kremlin launch a propaganda campaign on social media and Russian state-backed global news outlets to encourage US voters to elect a president who would take a softer line toward Russia than the administration of then-President Barack Obama.”
A second document “warned that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was likely to win the election. For that reason, it argued, it was better for Russia to end its pro-Trump propaganda and instead intensify its messaging about voter
fraud to undermine the US electoral system’s legitimacy and damage Clinton’s reputation in an effort to undermine her presidency.”
Fact: Nearly everyone thought Hillary would win including myself.
Fact: Media scoundrels one-sidedly supported her.
Fact: No pro-Trump Russian propaganda existed throughout the campaign or post-election, nothing denigrating Hillary, truth-telling alone.
Anonymous US officials fabricating claims about Russia US election meddling have no credibility.
Accusations without verifiable proof are baseless – part of longstanding Russia bashing.
