Trump Blasts Russia, Embraces NATO’s Killing Machine
by Stephen Lendman
Less than three months into his tenure, Trump proved he’s as recklessly ruthless as his predecessors – escalating Bush/Cheney/Obama wars, threatening Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and Syria, risking unthinkable nuclear war.
On Wednesday, he disgracefully called Assad an “animal,” a “butcher,” a disgusting Big Lie.
He criticized Putin for backing him, at the same time falsely accusing Moscow of advance knowledge of the April 4 CW attack – another brazen Big Lie.
US relations with Russia are at an “all-time low,” he added. In Moscow, Secretary of State Tillerson said “(t)here is a low level of trust between our countries” – without explaining it’s Washington’s fault, not Moscow’s.
Wednesday on Fox News, Trump disgracefully blasted Putin “for backing (Assad)” he outrageously called “an evil person.”
Together with US-installed NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, he said NATO is “no longer obsolete,” reversing his campaign rhetoric, ludicrously claiming the alliance “changed,” backing its US-led killing machine.
On Tuesday, he signed a document approving Montenegro as the alliance’s 29th member.
A White House statement said “the door to membership in the Euro-Atlantic community of nations remains open and that countries in the western Balkans are free to choose their own future and select their own partners without outside interference or intimidation.”
Trump’s reckless imperial agenda risks potentially catastrophic nuclear war. The possibility is greater than any previous time under earlier US administrations.
Media scoundrels ignore what demands highlighting, supporting Trump’s aggression, his Russia bashing, his threats against
Syria, Iran and North Korea – mindless of the potentially devastating consequences.
Cold War era Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) seems forgotten. Lunatics infesting Washington support endless wars on humanity.
Its fate is up for grabs as long as this madness persists.
