The NYT Cheerleads Reckless Congressional Actions

by Stephen Lendman ( – Home – Stephen Lendman)

Bipartisan neocons infesting Congress risk global conflict. The Times welcomes what it calls House and Senate “assert(ing) itself on national security issues in a mostly constructive manner.”

Examples cited include Senate members overwhelmingly voting for tough new (clearly illegal) sanctions on Russia.

The Times called alleged efforts by Secretary of State Tillerson “to forge a new relationship with (Sergey Lavrov) a dubious proposition,” adding:

“(T)here has been no sign that Mr. Tillerson…has won any concession that suggests Moscow is willing to end its aggressive behavior and engage seriously with Washington.”

Fact: Congressional and administration neocons risk more US aggression against nonbelligerent nations than already – possibly against North Korea, Iran, and regime change plotting against Venezuela’s model democracy, representing the threat of a good example, polar opposite US hegemonic madness.

Fact: All US unilaterally imposed sanctions against Russia and other nations are flagrantly illegal.

Fact: Hawkish generals run US foreign policy. Tillerson is out of the loop when it comes to warmaking, the defining feature of US geopolitics.

Fact: America is a serial aggressor, waging war on humanity at home and abroad.

Fact: Russia is the world’s leading proponent of world peace, security and stability – fostering good relations with all nations, threatening none.

The Times: “Russia’s mischief knows few boundaries. The country is still destabilizing Ukraine, using its military force to defend President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, undermining democracy across Europe and trying to woo vulnerable NATO members in Eastern Europe to its side.”

Fact: Cold, hard truths are polar opposite. The Times features disinformation, Big Lies and fake news, disgracing legitimate journalism, truth-telling on vital issues absent on its pages.

Criticizing Trump’s deplorable agenda is fully warranted. Neocon-infested Congress shares blame for approving legislation harming the welfare and rights of ordinary Americans and others abroad worldwide.
