US to Stop Arming Terrorists in Syria?
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
Throughout over six years of Obama’s war, now Trump’s, the CIA and Pentagon covertly and overtly armed fighters falsely called “moderate rebels.”
None exist. All anti-government forces in Syria are terrorists – death squads, including ISIS, al-Nusra, the misnamed (undemocratic) Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Free Syrian Army (FSA), and likeminded groups.
They’re recruited from scores of countries, used as imperial foot soldiers to topple Assad, replace him with pro-Western puppet rule, wanting Syria transformed into a US vassal state, along with isolating Iran ahead of initiating regime change plans against its government.
Diabolical strategy hasn’t changed, just tactics, the way things usually are in conflicts, adjusting to conditions on the ground.
Washington didn’t wage war on Syria to quit. Regional US/Israeli control depends on eliminating sovereign independent Syrian and Iranian governance, along with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
According to Western news reports on Wednesday, Trump no longer will covertly arm anti-Syrian terrorists called “moderate rebels.”
Unnamed administration officials said it’s a way work cooperatively with Russia to resolve years of war. They claimed covert arming will be phased out over a period of months.
The White House, Pentagon and CIA declined to comment on media reports. Given what’s ongoing in all US war theaters, take them with a grain of salt.
War continues raging in Syria. Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency published detailed information on 10 (illegal) US military bases in northern Syria – including locations and troop counts, information the Pentagon wants kept secret.
Responding to the report, US Defense Department spokesman Major Adrian JT Rankine-Galloway said “(w)hile we cannot independently verify the sources that contributed to this story, we would be very concerned if officials from a NATO ally would purposefully endanger our forces by releasing sensitive information.”
French, and likely UK, special forces operate from these bases – a scheme to control northern Syria on the phony pretext of combating ISIS Washington created and supports.
On Thursday, AMN news said photo evidence shows US “armaments and heavy military equipment being trucked across northern Syria” – destined for imperial foot soldiers involved in the battle for Raqqa.
Trump’s alleged move to stop arming misnamed moderate rebels “does not apply to SDF” or Kurdish YPG fighters, said AMN news – most likely not to other anti-government terrorist groups as well.
Throughout years of conflict, Washington and its rogue allies recruited, armed, funded, trained and directed ISIS, al-Nusra and other terrorist fighters.
Nothing suggests this strategy materially changed. Regime change remains America’s objective – terrorist foot soldiers supported by US-led coalition air power the plan for achieving it.
Washington and Moscow remain world’s apart on Syria. Irreconcilable differences aren’t likely to be resolved – especially with virtually all House and Senate members, along with America’s major media establishment, hostile to Russia.
