US Forces in Yemen
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
US special forces have been operating illegally in Yemen at least since spring 2016.
Along with Saudi terror-bombing and blockade, they’re supporting Al Qaeda terrorists, not combating them.
The campaign against Houthi rebels aims to restore puppet president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to power – no matter the human cost.
Throughout his tenure, Obama waged drone war on Yemen, continuing what Bush/Cheney began – indiscriminately massacring defenseless victims, mostly civilians, Trump continuing what his predecessors began.
Humanitarian crisis conditions in Yemen are the gravest anywhere since WW II, the lives and welfare of millions endangered by malnutrition, famine, diseases, and US-orchestrated aggression – Saudi terror-bombing doing most of the dirty work.
Obama’s war is now Trump’s. Days after his inauguration, US special forces massacred at least two dozen civilians – on the phony pretext of combating ISIS.
Claims about gathering “actionable intelligence” were fabricated. Death and destruction alone were achieved.
US drones and warplanes terror-bombed other areas, mostly civilians harmed. Pentagon and Saudi operations want Houthi rebels defeated. Terrorist forces battling them are aided, not targeted.
US special forces and other troops are directly involved in combat operations, allied with Riyadh and Al Qaeda.
Pentagon spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis lied, claiming they’re involved in “intelligence sharing.” Larger numbers may join them in the coming weeks.
Since Trump took office alone, scores of US airstrikes targeted Houthi positions, residential areas, hospitals, schools and vital infrastructure on the phony pretext of combating Al Qaeda.
Bataan Amphibious Ready Group vessels with hundreds of Marines onboard are involved in ongoing operations – a ready strike group if escalated US invasion is planned.
