John Kelly: White House Czar

John Kelly: White House Czar

by Stephen Lendman ( – Home – Stephen Lendman)

Reportedly he agreed to be chief of staff provided everything and everyone goes through him.

An unnamed senior administration official called him “the new alpha dog,” a White House gatekeeper. His presence in the West Wing puts the Pentagon closer to the seat of power than already.

Kelly manages Trump’s schedule, decides who sees him, who remain White House staffers and who goes. As former US Southern Command head, he’s used to giving orders and being obeyed – apparently how he’s running the White House, begging the question of who’s in charge.

On August 31, the neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post suggested Trump’s “on an inevitable collision course with (Kelly), chaf(ing) at some of (his) moves to restrict access to him…said people close to the president.”

According to one Trump “friend, (h)e doesn’t like the way the media’s handling him. He doesn’t like how Kelly’s handling him. (The White House chief of staff is) turning on people…very close to him.”

Reportedly he’s furious at economic czar Gary Cohn for criticizing his comments about Charlottesville. Rex Tillerson may be fired unless he leaves first. Clearly he wants out, frustrated over disagreements with administration policies.

Trump reportedly is angry about Kelly restricting friends from direct access to him.

According to WaPo, “(f)riends used to be able to call the White House and be patched directly through to Trump; now those calls are routed through Kelly and do not always make it to the president. Friends used to drop by the West Wing when they had time to kill, wandering to the Oval Office to say hello; now they must have an official appointment – and a clear reason – to visit.”

Free-wheeling Trump chafes at being constrained this way. He “continues to call business friends and outside advisers, including former chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon, from his personal phone when Kelly is not around, said people with knowledge of the calls,” according to WaPo.

Former advisor/confidant Roger Stone said he “resists being handled. Nobody tells him who to see, who to listen to, what to read, what he can say.”

“General Kelly is trying to treat the president like a mushroom. Keeping him in the dark and feeding him s- -t is not going to work. Donald Trump is a free spirit.”

Shakespeare once wrote “uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.” It’s true for presidents as well as monarchs – especially beleaguered ones like Trump.
