Israel at War on Gaza Without Declaring It

by Stephen Lendman ( – Home – Stephen Lendman)

Blockades are acts of war, waged on Gaza for over a decade, the world community dismissive about the ongoing high crime.

It’s compounded by Israeli cross-border military incursions and terror-bombing at its discretion – again overnight in response to two rockets from the Strip harming no one.

Israel warplanes struck multiple targets, damaging or destroying buildings and homes. Air-to-ground missiles were fired at Hamas sites, residential areas hit, the human toll unclear so far.

Israeli naval vessels attacked Palestinian fishermen, a common practice, causing injuries, at times deaths, and confiscation of their boats.

Israeli authorities decreased Gazan waters for fishing to six nautical miles offshore. Palestinian fishermen are banned from areas where fish breed.

The action violated Article 6 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

It “recognize(s) the right to work, which includes the right of everyone to the opportunity to gain his living by work which he freely chooses or accepts” – signatories to the agreement to “take appropriate steps to safeguard this right.”

Israel is a signatory to this and other international agreements, yet consistently flouts them. It continues to commit high crimes of war and against humanity against millions of Palestinians – attacking, injuring and killing them with impunity.

Overnight was the latest example. Gaza is a virtual war zone again. Washington and Israel bear full responsibility for what’s going on.

Trump’s Jerusalem declaration ignited a firestorm, Palestinians throughout the Occupied Territories resisting the move legitimately, Israel responding viciously, causing thousands of injuries and at least 11 deaths so far.

How many more Palestinian deaths and injuries are ahead until current resistance against US/Israeli tyranny runs its course?

How much more destruction? How many more political arrests and detentions? How many more families losing loved ones? How many more children traumatized How much more pain and suffering inflicted on beleaguered Palestinians?

How much longer will it be before they’re free at last from Israeli occupation and repression?
