Marine General Sees Another US War Coming
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
Given America’s rage for endless wars, he’s not alone. Trump escalated wars begun by Bush/Cheney and Obama.
He threatened “fire and fury like the world has never seen” against North Korea.
He lied claiming an Iranian threat, turned truth on its head, saying it’s a “murderous regime…the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism…threat(ening) American troops and our allies.”
America, NATO, Israel, and their rogue allies threaten world peace, stability and security. Iran is a leading force for peace – its anti-imperial agenda polar opposite Washington’s. The same goes for North Korea.
General Robert Neller currently serves a Commandant of the Marine Corps. Days earlier in Norway, he told hundreds of marines in the country to prepare for a “big-ass fight” he sees coming, adding:
“I hope I’m wrong, but there’s (another) war coming. You’re in a fight here, an informational fight, a political fight, by your presence.”
US forces are in Norway, other European countries and Asian ones on the phony pretexts of Russian and Chinese threats. None exist.
During WW II, Nazi Germany occupied Norway and other European countries. Now it’s America’s turn globally, surrounding sovereign independent nations with hostile US forces, waging imperial wars in multiple theaters, planning others.
A nation permanently at war needs invented enemies to fight. Neller served in various US combat theaters.
It’s how he earned his four stars and decorations, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal for “exceptionally distinguished performance of duty contributing to the national security or defense of the United States.”
Like other generals and admirals, he’s a warrior paid to fight. He believes the Asia Pacific and Russia will become conflict zones, in addition to the Middle East already.
According to Military.com, he made a brief visit to Norway-based marines ahead of the Christmas holiday period – based at the Norwegian Home Guard base near Trondheim.
Accompanying Neller was Marine Corp. sergeant major Ronald Green. Addressing US Norway-based forces, he said:
“Just remember why you’re here. They’re watching. Just like you watch them, they watch you.”
“We’ve got 300 Marines up here. We could go from 300 to 3,000 overnight. We could raise the bar.”
Northern Norway borders Russian territory. Moscow asks why are they there, Norwegian opposition leaders asking the same thing, given no threat from Russia or any other country.
Neller spokesman Lt. Col. Eric Dent said his visit and remarks aimed “to inspire and focus on the marines’ training,” adding:
“The thought of war has a way of motivating warriors to train hard and increase readiness. I cannot imagine any professional military leader suggesting to his or her soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coast guardsmen that we shouldn’t think that conflict is pending.”
“If you want peace, train for war.” America is a warrior nation. Peace is an anathema notion, perpetually at war against one or more nations threatening no one.
Will North Korea be targeted next, Iran to follow, then Russia and China?
Will nuclear weapons be used for the first time since WW II? Will war occur on US soil for the first time since the 19th century civil one and extermination of Native Peoples?
It’s already ongoing in Black and Latino communities nationwide. Ones in my own city of Chicago and elsewhere are battlegrounds, killer cops acting like US combat troops in war theaters.
A nation permanently at war is doomed by its own hubris and arrogance. Today’s super-weapons could doom us all.
