The NYT Uses Politicized Olympism to Denigrate Vladimir Putin
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
The Times is the leading global media Russophobe, using every opportunity to bash Russia and denigrate Vladimir Putin, usually inventing reasons.
It used the disgraceful politicized banning of Russia from the 2018 Winter Olympics as a pretext for another Russophobic attack, saying:
“The Olympic ban was the perfect setup (for Putin) to declare his candidacy.”
His announcement had nothing to do with International Olympic Committee’s action, the IOC part of the Russiophobia assault on the country and its leadership, serving US imperial interests, corrupting Olympism more than already.
The Times ridiculed Putin calling the ban “absolutely staged and politically motivated…” Indeed so!
It lied repeating the IOC’s Big Lie, saying its investigation confirmed the “systemic manipulation of the anti-doping rules and system in Russia.”
It confirmed the IOC is a convenient US puppet, taking orders from Washington, turning Olympism into tragedy and farce, rendering it illegitimate, unrelated to what legitimate sport is all about.
The Times: “The annexation of Crimea, the interference in Ukraine, the meddling in American elections and the elaborate, state-sponsored doping of athletes, to name the more grievous of them, have sharply diminished Mr. Putin’s, and Russia’s, stature in much of the world.”
Fact: No annexation of Crimea occurred, no interference in Ukraine, no meddling in America’s electoral process, no state-sponsored doping of athletes, no diminishing of Putin’s stature other than in Washington, Britain and other rogue EU states – some but not all, economic powerhouse Germany showing signs of shifting the other way.
The Times: “The sanctions make clear that the culprit is the Kremlin and its greed for glory.”
Fact: All sanctions imposed on Russia were flagrantly illegal. Russian governance shames America’s debauched system. Its peacemaking agenda is polar opposite Washington’s permanent war policy.
The Times gives yellow journalism new meaning. The self-styled newspaper of record is a national disgrace.
