Phony US Evidence Pretends to Show Iran Supplies Yemeni Houthis with Weapons
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
A US/Saudi naval blockade prevents weapons and most humanitarian supplies from entering Yemen.
On Friday, neocon US UN envoy Nikki Haley held a by invitation only press conference at Joint (US Air Force/Naval Support) Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), located in southeast Washington, DC.
Using props lacking credibility, she claimed “evidence of missiles, conventional arms, and explosive boats of Iranian origin used by” Houthi fighters in Yemen.
Her accusations were pure rubbish, anti-Iranian propaganda, vilifying the country disgracefully, part of the Trump administration’s hostile campaign, perhaps with another war in mind.
Orchestrated in Washington under Obama, Trump continues waging war on Yemen in cahoots with Saudi terror-bombing, creating the world’s gravest humanitarian crisis.
America, Britain and other Western countries supply Riyadh with billions of dollars of sophisticated weapons and munitions – used for homeland repression, arming ISIS and other regional terrorists, along with waging naked aggression on Yemen.
The likelihood of Tehran’s ability to deliver missiles or other weapons to Houthi fighters under tight blockade conditions is virtually nil.
Haley lied saying otherwise, providing no credible evidence supporting her accusations, disgracefully claiming nonexistent “concrete evidence of illegal Iranian weapons proliferation, gathered from direct military attacks on our partners in the region.”
Behind her were unidentifiable objects she absurdly claimed are parts of an Iranian ballistic missile supplied to the Houthis. They could have been trash taken from a Washington area waste disposal site.
Without additional props, she claimed a Washington area warehouse holds parts of other weapons, alleging they’re Iranian made, used by Houthis in Yemen, providing no credible evidence revealing nothing but her anti-Iranian hostility.
“This evidence demonstrates a pattern of behavior in which Iran sows conflict and extremism in direct violation of UN Security Council resolutions,” she roared.
Iran is the region’s leading proponent of peace and stability. America, NATO, Israel, and their rogue allies are serial aggressors.
Haley disgraces the office she holds, a war hawk, a Ziofascist, a geopolitical know nothing, a dangerous neocon extremist, hostile to Iranian sovereign independence, militantly anti-Russia, opposed to peace and stability.
Her Thursday presentation was farcical, an exercise in disinformation, showing her incompetence for any public position – an anti-diplomat, not the real thing.
A Final Comment
Iran denounced her baseless accusations, calling them “irresponsible, provocative and destructive,” adding:
“This purported evidence…is as much fabricated as the one presented on some other occasions earlier.”
“These accusations seek also to cover up for the Saudi war crimes in Yemen, with the US complicity, and divert international and regional attention from the stalemate war of aggression against the Yemenis.”
In November, a Security Council appointed panel said it found no evidence, supporting Riyadh’s claim about Iran supplying Houthi fighters with missiles.
The Saudi accusation was baseless. So was Haley’s.
