Trump’s Dismal State of the Union
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
Trump heads a neocon infested police state, a fantasy democracy, a warrior nation waging endless wars of aggression, raping and destroying one country after another – exploiting people at home and abroad, wanting dominance over all other nations.
On Tuesday, he delivered his first State of the Union address. The White House website promoted it, posting propaganda, suppressing reality, saying:
“President Donald J. Trump Is Promoting Free, Fair, and Reciprocal Trade.”
His administration wants US corporate predators benefitting at the expense of foreign interests.
“President Donald J. Trump’s Foreign Policy Puts America First.”
He’s waging war on humanity, seeking US global dominance, uncaring about the nation’s most underprivileged.
“President Donald J. Trump Will Rebuild American Infrastructure and Forge a Path Towards Greater Prosperity.”
His $1.5 trillion plan over the net decade involves privatizing state assets, letting corporate predators and investors profit at the expense of ordinary people – cutting social services to help pay for it, including Medicare, Medicaid and maybe Social Security – how he’s helping to finance his great GOP tax cut heist.
“President Donald J. Trump Is Reshaping the Government.”
He filled his administration with neocons, hawkish generals, crooked billionaires, Wall Street predators, and other corporate insiders.
Instead of draining the Washington swamp, he filled it to overflowing.
“President Donald J. Trump’s ‘American Model’ Economy.”
It’s modeled exclusively for the nation’s privileged few at the expense of most others.
“President Donald J. Trump Wants Immigration That Makes America Stronger and Safer.”
Referring to the “shame of the union,” the ACLU called his anti-immigration agenda “hateful,” dressed up in lofty rhetoric fooling no one.
He gave Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents “free rein to terrorize immigrant communities who’ve worked hard to build lives here.”
He “cultivat(ed) a climate of fear” in the country, breaching constitutional rights.
“President Donald J. Trump Protects America Through Lawful Detention of Terrorists.”
Terrorists ‘R us. State terrorism defines Washington’s agenda at home and abroad – including use of ISIS and like-minded groups as imperial foot soldiers.
Trump supports what he vowed to combat and eliminate. He’s a war criminal belonging in prison, not high office, not president of the United States, not commander-and-chief with his finger on the nuclear trigger he may be itching to squeeze.
His public addresses make painful listening – his remarks belying his deplorable agenda, shameful, disgraceful, lawless, harmful to countless millions worldwide.
He lied claiming “(o)ver the last year, we have made incredible progress and achieved extraordinary success” – for privileged interests exclusively, ordinary Americans and others worldwide harmed grievously.
His address repeated earlier duplicitous claims about the economy, overall state of the nation, an American dream more nightmarish than real for most people, and a future perhaps ended by nuclear war he may wage.
His war on regulations permits unfettered corporate predation, risking ecocide. He failed to end Big Pharma price-gouging as promised. He lied saying “(p)rices will come down.” They’re increasing as anyone refilling prescriptions knows.
His administration continues unfair trade practices. Offshoring jobs to low-wage countries continues unabated. He lied claiming otherwise.
“The era of economic surrender is over,” he roared. The “era of economic” exploitation of workers continues unrestrained.
Trump’s entire address was a recitation of unfulfilled promises, dirty business as usual continuing on his watch, the state of the nation and world more dismal since he took office – testimony to US ruthlessness and indifference to the rights and needs of ordinary people everywhere.
His deplorable first year in office was beautiful for America’s privileged class alone, dismal for humanity – risking its demise if he squeezes the nuclear trigger, waging endless wars of aggression for unchallenged US global dominance.
