US Confirms Israeli Warplanes Struck Syrian Airbase

by Stephen Lendman ( – Home – Stephen Lendman)

NBC News reported it, citing two unnamed US officials.

Russia reported the same thing hours earlier, saying two Israeli warplanes fired eight missiles from Lebanese airspace, five destroyed by Syrian air defenses, the others striking a portion of the base.

Israel said nothing so far. In recent years, it’s targeted Syrian territory numerous times, flagrantly violating international law.

On Monday, Sergey Lavrov said “(o)ur military specialists have visited (the alleged) place (attacked), and they did not find any trace of chlorine or any other chemical substance used against civilians” – nothing supporting the official narrative, clearly a bald-faced lie, Washington and Israel surely behind it.

Syrian Arab Red Crescent medical personnel and doctors in Douma explained no one was treated for toxic agent poisoning.

Al-Qaeda-connected White Helmets published images online, claiming to show the aftermath of a Douma CW attack – their operatives wearing no protective clothing, essential if protection from toxic agents was needed.

Alleged images of suffocating babies in diapers breathing through oxygen masks were fake – perhaps from somewhere else earlier, clearly not from Douma.

Sputnik News said they “appeared to be so focused on accusing President Bashar al-Assad of dropping a chemical bomb on Douma that they forgot to put on gas masks or protective suits themselves” – appearing calm and unharmed in an image shown.

On Monday “Mad dog” Mattis suggested a US military response could be coming, refusing to “rule out anything right now,” adding:

“The first thing we have to look at is why chemical weapons are still being used at all. Russia was the framework guarantor of removing all the chemical weapons and so working with our allies and partners…we are going to address this issue.”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry called the alleged Douma incident another example of a “continuous series of fake news about the use of chlorine and other chemical agents by the government forces,” adding:

“The goal of this…baseless speculation is to shield the terrorists and…the radical opposition that refuse to engage in a political settlement, as well as to justify potential military strikes from the outside” – by Washington, Israel and their rogue allies.

According to the Kremlin, Putin and Angela Merkel discussed the alleged Douma incident by phone. “The leaders exchanged views on the situation in Syria, including in the light of allegations by a number of Western states accusing Damascus of the use of chemical weapons.”

“The Russian side stressed the inadmissibility of provocations and speculations on that matter.”

The Douma false flag was staged for a purpose. What Washington and its rogue partners intend doing should unfold in the hours or days following Monday’s Security meeting on the issue.

Note: On Monday, Trump said he’ll decide in the next 24 – 48 hours whether to strike Syria militarily.

Surrounded by neocon lunatics, the damn fool in the White House risks starting global war.
