Russia Cyberattacking America’s Political Process?

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

In the run-up to US November midterms, Russophobes infesting Washington, scoundrel media editorial boards, and corporate America are revving up false claims about Kremlin US election meddling.

They never quit, Russia targeted as US public enemy No. One – for its sovereign independence and opposition to US aggression, not for any threat it poses to the nation’s security or political process.

Microsoft is a king-sized corporate predator, allied with anti-social media efforts to remove online truth-telling – content conflicting with the official falsified narrative.

Censorship is the new normal in America, a state-sponsored plot to control the message – on the phony pretext of removing hate speech and other unacceptable content.

Anti-social media, Microsoft, and other tech giants are enemies of free and open societies. They’re allied with US dark forces, waging political and economic war on Russia, as well as other sovereign independent nations.

On August 20, Microsoft president Brad Smith said “(w)e are taking new steps against broadening threats to democracy”  – failing to explain they don’t exist in Western societies.

He lied saying these countries “are under attack,” claiming “(f)oreign entities are launching cyber strikes to disrupt elections and sow discord.”

He cited no evidence because none exists, just baseless accusations, mainly targeting Russia.

It’s part of an endless disinformation campaign since falsely claiming the Kremlin interfered in America’s 2016 presidential election to help Trump defeat Hillary – a bald-faced lie.

According to Microsoft, it’s so-called “Digital Crimes Unit” shut down “84 fake websites” associated with Russian hackers.

The company is expanding its so-called “Defending Democracy Program” with a new initiative called “Microsoft AccountGuard,” calling it cybersecurity protection offered free to US political candidates and campaign offices at the federal, state and local levels.

Microsoft claimed hackers it uncovered created fake websites for the anti-democratic neocon Hudson Institute and International Republican Institute, along with other fake domains designed to look US Senate-related.

It accused a group it called Strontium, aka Fancy Bear and APT 28, falsely accused of hacking the DNC and Hillary campaign in 2016, claiming they’re linked to Russian intelligence – a Big Lie.

Brad Smith was over-the-top, saying “(w)e’re concerned that these and other attempts pose security threats to a broadening array of groups connected with both American political parties in the run-up to the 2018 elections.”

No evidence suggests any threats to America’s political process exists – except invented ones to bash Russia.

On Sunday, neocon extremist John Bolton said Russia, China, Iran and North Korea may try interfering in America’s November midterms – a bald-faced lie.

Expect lots more of the same in the run-up to November midterm elections – utter rubbish. Believe none of it!
