Iranian President Straight Talk About the US and Israel

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

Addressing the 32nd annual International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani slammed the Trump and Netanyahu regimes – imperial partners against world peace and stability.

US-supported Zionist zealotry is the root cause of Israeli state terror. Jeremy Salt earlier said Zionist ideology “based on marginalization or discrimination…the ultimate source of” justifiable Palestinian anger against a ruthless occupier, too vicious to tolerate.

Edward Said called lawless occupation an “atrocity,” a crime against humanity…a bloody impasse.”

Joel Kovel said Zionism fosters “imperialist expansion and militarism (with) signs of fascist malignancy.” It turned Israel “into a machine for the manufacture of human rights abuses” – led by racists posing as democrats, waging war, deploring peace.

James Petras explained that Zionist power and influence in America are “bolstered by the financial support by scores of millionaires and dozens of billionaires and a complicit mass media” – along with virtually all Republicans and undemocratic Dems in Washington. Rare exceptions prove the rule.

It’s why Israel gets away with mass murder and a whole lot more, its ruling regimes unaccountable for decades of high crimes.

Calling for Muslim unity among ummah (community binding Muslims together), Rouhani called Israel a “cancerous tumor,” a “fake regime,” established by Western countries to advance their interests in the Middle East.

He equated bowing to US pressure with “treason.” He slammed Washington for wanting people everywhere to “be its slaves,” bullying and smashing nations to get its way.

“The disagreement between the Islamic World and the United States is regarding freedom and slavery,” he said, adding:

“After WW II, the United Nations was formed based on more power and the right to veto, and anyone having deadlier weapon, got the right to veto in the world.”

“Submission to America and the West means betraying Islamic ideals and Muslim generations, and laying red carpet for historic criminals.”

Through unity, Muslims will prevail against Washington and Zionism, he stressed.

“We have a choice to either roll out red carpets for criminals, or to forcefully stand against injustice and remain faithful to our Prophet, our Quran and our Islam.”

The conference runs from November 24 – 26 – attended by hundreds of academics, scientific, cultural and religious figures from scores of countries.

It’s held annually during Islamic Unity Week in Tehran – organized by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

Its purpose is political, cultural, and religious unity against US/Israeli-led dark forces – masters of war, enemies of peace, equity and justice.
