Big Lies Define Western, Israeli and Saudi Policies

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

Virtually all politicians and diplomats lie. Rare exceptions prove the rule.

US, UK, French, other Western, Israeli and Saudi officials are especially egregious. Nothing they say can be believed.

Trump lies about virtually everything to an extreme –  exceeding serial lying by the Clintons, Bush/Cheney and Obama.

He’s a congenital liar on all things domestic and geopolitical – notably on war and peace, corporate rapaciousness, environmental issues, aliens seeking safe haven in America, unfair “free” trade, Iran, Israeli apartheid, Saudi criminality, and all things political.

UK regimes operate the same way – notably on issues connected to Washington’s imperial agenda and anything about Russia, inventing reasons to bash the Kremlin and Vladimir Putin personally, Big Lies substituting for hard truths.

French President Macron mocks anyone criticizing his imperial/corporate agenda, especially Yellow Vest protesters against his anti-populism, polar opposite his campaign pledges.

Saying “democracy is not in the street” ignores its absence in French society entirely. Like all other Western countries, governance is of, by, and for its privileged class exclusively while pretending otherwise.

Trump and his regime hardliners swallowed Saudi Big Lies hook, line and sinker, as the saying goes – notably on Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, still making headlines weeks crown prince Mohammad bin Salman ordered his brutal murder inside the kingdom’s Istanbul consulate.

Khashoggi was a neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post columnist, a former Saudi insider-turned critic. The kingdom’s intolerance of dissent doomed him.

WaPo editors slammed the return to Washington of Saudi envoy Khalid bin Salman (KBS), accusing him of “launch(ing) an epic campaign of lies” about Khashoggi’s murder.

All ambassadors are paid to lie for their countries. KBS “told anyone who would listen — from senators to the publisher of the Post — that reports that Mr. Khashoggi had been detained or killed inside the consulate were ‘absolutely false, and baseless,’ said WaPo, adding:

“He said no one in the regime of his father, king Salman, or his brother, crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), knew what had happened to Mr. Khashoggi. ‘What we do care about is Jamal’s wellbeing and revealing the truth about what has occurred’ ” – a bald-face lie.

When indisputable facts surfaced about MBS’ responsibility for Khashoggi’s murder, KBS returned to Riyadh to lay low for the storm to end, returning to Washington while it’s still hot.

WaPo is right saying he has “zero credibility.” The same goes for all Saudi officials, their counterparts in America, all other Western countries, and most others including Israel.

Its regimes consistently blame their high crimes on Palestinians and other victims. Netanyahu is a serial liar like Trump.

Nothing he says is credible – nor anything by major Western, Saudi and Israeli media, serving as press agents for wealth, power and privilege, proliferating Big Lies, suppressing hard truths on major issues.

Big Lies define how regimes hostile to popular interests and well-being operate – notably in the West, Riyadh and Israel.
