Freedom v. Fascism at Stake in Venezuela

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

Events unfolding in Venezuela for the past four weeks reflect the ugly face of what US coup plotting against a sovereign state is all about.

Democracy building, responsibility to protect, and humanitarian intervention are Washington’s deadliest exports.

There’s nothing remotely legal about US actions against Venezuela, its sovereign independence, democratically elected government and people.

There’s nothing legitimate about what Maduro called fake US humanitarian aid, a show, an interventionist act, a provocation unrelated to what aid is supposed to be – what’s being supplied by Russia, China, Cuba, and other nations, hundreds of tons sent, more to come, wanting Venezuelans helped for real.

On Monday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (MZ below) discussed US interventionism in Venezuela, calling the situation “alarming.”

Reciting from the script written for him by his Trump regime handlers, US-designated puppet/usurper in waiting Guaido announced last week that “February 23 will be the day for the entry of (pseudo) humanitarian aid, and so from today we will work with all sectors” to distribute the poisoned chalice, a political stunt exposed by Maduro, other Venezuelan officials and truth-telling independent media.

What’s likely to happen on Saturday, the 23rd, remains to unfold, MZ saying “the masterminds behind this (stunt) mean to ‘step into the breach,’ provoking the border guards and the military into using force.”

The scheme may be similar to the Obama regime’s orchestrated Euromaidan violence against Ukraine’s democratically elected government – in late 2013, early 2014, culminating with the toppling of President Viktor Yanukovych, a US-controlled Nazi-infested putschist regime replacing him.

The plot involved US trained snipers, killing and injuring hundreds of civilians and police, firing on them with automatic weapons. Witnesses saw them carrying military-style bags used for sniper and assault rifles with optical sights.

Ahead of the uprising, Maidan operatives practically lived at Washington’s Kiev embassy, plotting the overthrow of Ukraine’s democratic government.

Fascist tyranny replaced it – the most brazen European coup since Mussolini’s 1922 march on Rome.

Ongoing events are eerily similar to what played out ahead of the February 2014 coup. The unfolding plot may include CIA-instigated violence in Caracas, perhaps elsewhere in the country as well, killing scores, injuring hundreds.

Earlier violence included shootings, roadside bombs, arson and other vandalism against state facilities, barricades of burning rubbish, blocking roads, destroying a food storage depot, and holding a maternity hospital under siege.

Separately, a helicopter attacked the Interior Ministry and Supreme Court. Other disruptive tactics were used, proxy war against the sovereign state.

Cucuta, Colombia bordering Venezuela is a staging area for the US plot to unfold this weekend. Neocon Senator Marco Rubio is involved.

He threatened Venezuela’s military, turned truth on its head saying blockage of US (interventionist) aid would be a “crime against humanity,” soldiers involved to spend “the rest of their lives hiding from justice.”

Rubio is part of the lunatic fringe in Washington, waging endless wars on humanity, wanting sovereign independent governments and democracy where it exists eliminated.

Fascist hardliner Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart is with Rubio in Cucuta, along with US OAS envoy Carlos Trujillo and USAID head Mark Green. They’re part of the Trump regime’s plot to crush Bolivarian social democracy.

MZ: “The total damage caused by the US sanctions on Venezuela since 2013 is estimated at $345 billion. It is hard to believe that such unlawful sanctions aimed at strangling the Venezuelan economy were designed to alleviate the situation of the ordinary citizens in that country.”

It’s why Trump’s fake humanitarian aid is Trojan horse deception. Legitimate aid is coordinated with recipient countries, the UN, ICRC, and/or other aid agencies often involved, along with donor countries legitimately concerned about human rights and well-being of people in need.

Under Republicans and undemocratic Dems, the US seeks dominion over other nations, aiding them out of the question. The plot against Venezuela is hostile and provocative. What’s planned for this weekend is cause for great concern.

A significant provocation may be planned, how it’ll play out unknown. It’s vital for Venezuela’s military to try avoiding violence. If staged by the Trump regime, a real possibility, they’ll have to respond.

Trump hardliners aim to use events of the weekend to their advantage, hardball tactics their specialty, notably if the CIA is involved which is very likely.

It’s more reason for Russia and China to step up to the plate more aggressively for Venezuela – to help counter whatever the Trump regime may have planned.

On orders from Washington, Guaido set a February 23 deadline for Maduro and Venezuela’s military to let Trojan horse US aid enter the country.

If violence similar to the 2013-14 Euromaidan scenario is planned, it could be the start of an all-out attempt to topple Maduro by brute force.

How far Trump regime hardliners intend to go remains to be seen – along with whether Venezuela’s military is able foil their diabolical plot.
