Trump Regime Choice for State Department Propagandist

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

One Fox News pseudo-journalist is replacing a former one as State Department Propagandist – Morgan Ortagus given the job.

Heather Nauert last held the post despite no previous government or international experience. It showed.

Chosen to succeed neocon hardliner/political prostitute Nikki Haley as UN envoy, she withdrew from consideration in February, saying it’s in the best interest of her family, with no further elaboration.

Most likely it was because she’s supremely unqualified for the higher-level post, bowing out to avoid public embarrassment on the world stage where she’d clearly be out of her element.

Trump’s nominee to replace her, Kelly Knight Craft, is just as dubious, his envoy to Canada, wife of billionaire coal-mining tycoon/large GOP donor Joseph Craft – CEO of Alliance Resource Partners, a figure with close White House ties.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, he donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural ceremonies and $775,000 to his 2016 presidential campaign. He bought both jobs for his unqualified wife.

A former beauty queen, Ortagus is a Fox News contributor. Earlier she served as media secretary for former deputy national security advisor KT McFarland’s failed bid for the GOP New York US Senate nomination, later as a staffer for Republican Rep. Adam Putnam and volunteer worker for Jeb Bush’s failed 2016 presidential campaign.

Reportedly she held posts at Treasury, State and USAID. She’s a reservist in the US navy. In the private sector, she served as Standard Charter Bank’s global relationship manager, later in Ernst & Young’s Geostrategic Business Group.

Together with Samantha Vinograd, she co-founded GO Advisors, a geopolitical risk and policy advisory firm. She joined the Trump regime as State Department propagandist.

Earlier she publicly criticized Trump’s “isolationist foreign policy approach,” separately saying his mocking of physically and mentally disabled people is “disgusting,” making him unsuitable for the presidency, adding:

“Quite frankly, I don’t want someone with the temperament of a middle school pubescent boy in the president’s office…People know Trump isn’t serious.”

It’s unclear if DLT is aware of her earlier criticism. Demanding loyalty, he’s known to come down hard on critics.

In April 2016 on Fox News, Ortagus was quoted saying “(i)n (Trump’s) gut, he does not think that Americans should be, quote unquote, the policemen of the world,” adding:

“I don’t see it that way. I think that America is the glue that holds the world together…So there were points that I agreed with him, but overall, I fundamentally disagree with his” worldview.

After winning the GOP nomination and presidency, Ortagus transformed herself into a Trump supporter.

Best known for appearances on Fox News, she’s a staunch supporter of endless US wars and other imperial crimes.

Her job at State involves portraying them as democracy building. Her neocon credentials got her the job.
