No Letup in Media War on Iran

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

Establishment media vilify nonbelligerent nations, threatening no one on the US target list for regime change — supporting imperial wars and other hostile actions instead of denouncing them.

Iran is in the eye of the Trump regime’s storm, inventing reasons to institute greater unlawful toughness on the country and its 84 million people.

Its actions flagrantly breach international and US constitutional law. The world community yawns and does nothing.

Establishment media support US high crimes of war, against humanity, and other unlawful actions against one nonbelligerent nation after another.

They’re fundamentally against peace, equity, justice, and accountability for privileged lawbreakers in high places. Rare exceptions prove the rule.

In America, equal justice under law is a meaningless figure of speech — domestically and geopolitically.

The NYT is militantly hostile toward nonbelligerent Iran. Its latest hit piece claimed Tehran is losing “sympathy” at the UN — what it doesn’t seek regionally or in New York at the world body.

Its ruling authorities seek respect for the nation’s sovereign rights, rule of law enforcement, peace over endless US wars of aggression against nations threatening no one, and denunciation of Trump regime war on the country by other means they call “economic terrorism.”

The Times falsely claimed Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif is “on the defensive after attacks on Saudi oil facilities” — failing to stress no credible evidence links Tehran to what happened.

Zarif represents his country honorably and effectively, setting the record straight, countering media reported Trump regime/Israeli Big Lies.

The Times shamefully called him a “biting American-educated foreign minister,” ignoring his straight talk truth-telling, what’s absent in Times pages on issues mattering most — state-approved propaganda filling them.

Instead of denouncing EU support for Trump’s unlawful JCPOA pullout, European countries breaching their mandated obligations under the deal, The Times blamed Iran for failing to enlist their support.

Judge them by their actions since Trump’s May 2018 JCPOA withdrawal. Britain, France, Germany, and Brussels spurned Iran, siding with Trump regime lawlessness, failing to oppose it by responsible policy actions not taken — nothing but hollow steps achieving nothing.

The Times quoted French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, calling September 14 attacks on Saudi oil facilities a “game-changer” — implying Iranian responsibility for what he and his European counterparts know Tehran had nothing to do with.

Falsely blaming Iran for striking Saudi facilities is a way for Pompeo, new NSA O’brien, and their hardline henchmen to end any chance for preserving the landmark nuclear deal.

It also allies Europe more greatly with unlawful Trump regime toughness on Iran, heightening the risk of possible military confrontation instead of stepping back from the brink.

Separately, the Iranophobic Wall Street Journal headlined its letter to the editors page: “It’s Time to Finally Face Up to Iran’s Threat.”

No matter that none exists from the region’s leading peace and stability proponent.

The Big Lie persists, the tactic used against all nations on the US target list for regime change — vilifying them with false accusations, featured in establishment media reports, despite no credible evidence backing them.

Russia was US target No. 1 before elevating Iran to center stage for now, falsely accusing the Kremlin of “aggression” in Ukraine, downing MH17, the UK Skripal incident, the Big Lie that won’t die about US election meddling, and other disinformation about the country and its ruling authorities.

Vilifying nations it doesn’t control is longstanding US practice, establishment media acting as a collective mouthpiece for its hostile agenda.

Big Lies and deception are longstanding US tactics to marshal support for wars of aggression and other hostile actions.

Will Pompeo and other regime hardliners push Trump toward boiling the Middle East over more than already by belligerent confrontation with Iran?

Will European countries continue operating as US colonies, abandoning their sovereign independence altogether by bending to a higher power in Washington more than already?

Is another global war possible because crazies infesting Washington dominate cooler heads — establishment media failing to denounce their recklessness?
