Elizabeth Warren: Obama Clone with a Gender Difference

Elizabeth Warren: Obama Clone with a Gender Difference

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)

According to a late September Quinnipiac University poll, Warren narrowly passed Biden in popularity among Dems and Dem-leaning independents with 27% support.

He’s way down from weeks earlier 32% support to 25% currently. Sanders is at 16%, Kamala Harris fading badly to 3%.

With over 13 months to November 2020 US elections, it’s a two-person race as things now stand — with plenty of time for things to change.

Like longtime supporter of privilege over peace, equity and justice Biden, establishment figure Warren isn’t and never was a people’s champion, far from it.

She was a consumer right advocate in name only. As Obama’s interim Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (BCFP) head, she did nothing to challenge predatory banking practices, nothing to urge prosecution of Wall Street crooks.

During Israeli summer 2014 preemptive war on defenseless Gazans, she supported IDF terror-bombing, failing to condemn strikes on hospitals, schools, mosques, residential neighborhoods, a UN shelter, and other civilian targets.

She falsely called Hamas a terrorist organization, lied accusing its military wing, established solely for defense, of “put(ting) its rocket launchers next to hospitals, next to schools…using their civilian population to protect their military assets,” adding:

“We have an interest in Israel defending itself and surviving” — at a time when its only enemies are invented. No real ones exist.

Asked if she supports Palestinian self-determination via a two-state solution with Israel, she said “(a)s president, I would take immediate steps to reestablish America’s role as a credible mediator.”

Throughout decades of no-peace/peace process deception, US one-sided support for Israel and disdain for Palestinian rights was and remains official policy in Washington by both wings of the one-party state.

No matter who serves as US president and Israeli prime minister, abandonment of Palestinian rights since establishment of the Jewish state will continue being prologue for future policy.

Their long-suffering people have few friends in Washington and Tel Aviv, none in positions of power to make a difference, the way it’s been since the 1917 Balfour Declaration — the beginning of the end of historic Palestine.

Endless conflict, occupation, dispossession, and repression, along with social and cultural fragmentation define conditions for beleaguered Palestinians – over 100 years of suffering, no end of it in prospect, the world community dismissive of their rights.

Warren’s Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act introduced last year, a self-promotion publicity stunt for her presidential campaign, died in committee.

On issues of war and peace, she’s no dove, largely supporting the war agenda of undemocratic Dems.

She’s militantly hostile toward nonbelligerent Iran and Venezuela, supporting economic terrorism against both countries.

Earlier on the Bolivarian Republic, she ignored the hemisphere’s preeminent social democracy, falsely saying:

Its “people deserve free and fair elections (sic), an economy that works (sic), and the ability to live without fear of violence from their own government (sic),” adding:

“(W)e should be taking real steps to support the Venezuelan people” — while backing US designated puppet/usurper in waiting Guaido over democratically elected and reelected Nicolas Maduro.

Warren lied about nonbelligerent North Korea, falsely accusing the country of posing a “threat to the security of the United States, our allies, and the world” — a nation that never preemptively waged war throughout its history, victimized by earlier US aggression.

In 2017, she voted to impose illegal US sanctions on Russia, Iran, and North Korea, nations threatening no others.

In the same year, she co-signed a letter with all other senators, falsely accusing the UN of bias against Israel.

She supports militarism and war spending, notably when funding benefits Massachusetts’ companies, her home state.

She’s an Obama clone, rhetorically for peace while backing budgets for war, supporting corporate interests while pretending to be progressive.

Calling herself “capitalist to the bone,” meaning how predatory big business operates, exploiting ordinary people for maximum profits, reveals where she really stands domestically.

Last July, Bloomberg noted that she’s “winning grudging respect among some on Wall Street.”

Earlier a registered Republican, she changed party affiliation to the Dems in the 1990s, the Clinton co-presidency as hostile to peace, equity and justice as the GOP.

She strongly supports the national security state. In a Foreign Affairs January/February 2019 issue op-ed, she said the following:

“(A)fter years as the world’s lone superpower, the United States is entering a new period of competition.”

“Democracy (sic) is running headlong into the ideologies of nationalism, authoritarianism and corruption. China is on the rise.”

“Russia is provoking the international community with opportunistic harassment and covert attacks (sic). Both nations invest heavily in their militaries and other tools of national power.”

With all categories included, including massive black budgets, US spending for militarism, warmaking, and maintaining its global empire of bases exceeds what all other nations combined spend for national defense.

She backed recklessly dangerous Hillary’s 2016 presidential campaign. Her Plan for Economic Patriotism sounds like Trump’s MAGA.

Her proposal to tax assets over $50 million annually at 2% is a campaign stunt, an idea going nowhere in Washington.

As an undemocratic Dem, she largely backs the party line, her populist rhetoric a strategy to win over working class voters from longtime political con man Bernie Sanders, Warren cut out of the same cloth.

No presidential aspirant from either right wing of the US war party warrants support — their agenda supporting privileged interests over world peace and beneficial social change.

Biden is gaffe-prone, Warren gaining at his expense. Though way too early to know, she may be Dem standard bearer against Trump in 2020 — provided party bosses don’t manipulate things like for Hillary in 2016.
