Pentagon Designated a Terrorist Organization by Iranian MPs

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

On Tuesday, Iranian lawmakers unanimously designated the Pentagon a terrorist organization.

Addressing the body, Speaker Ali Larijani said the following:

“Today, following the cruel US measure in assassinating General Soleimani, the responsibility of which was accepted by the US President, we modify the previous law and announce that all members of Pentagon, commanders, agents, and those responsible for the martyrdom of Gen Soleimani will be considered as terrorist forces.”

The measure calls for appropriate retaliation against the Trump regime’s act of war on the Islamic Republic.

IRGC commander General Hossein Salami vowed it “will be tough, strong, decisive, and finishing, and will make them regret” their hostile action, adding:

“(T)he seeds of hatred for the US have been sown in the hearts of Muslims and no safe point have been left for” the Americans.”

“We say again that we have strong determination and take revenge, and if they (the US) continue, we will set fire at the place they like and they know where it is.”

The White House, its agencies and departments, Congress, the US intelligence community, NATO, Israel, and their imperial partners in high crimes against peace should all be designated terrorist organizations.

Iranians, Iraqis, their governments and lawmakers, along with the Arab street want the US expelled from the region.

On Monday, Iraqi Hezbollah called for closing the US Baghdad embassy, a further “step on the path of liberation and cleansing from the enemy’s aggression,” it said.

Legislation passed by Iraqi MPs calls for the Baghdad government “to revoke its request for assistance from the international coalition fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant due to the end of military operations in Iraq and the achievement of victory,” adding:

“The Iraqi government must work to end the presence of any foreign troops on Iraqi soil and prohibit them from using its land, airspace or water for any reason.”

According to the Arabic-language Masa Press news service, US troops were deployed to southern Yemen.

AMN News reported that “US military reinforcements (were sent to) Taiji Camp north of Baghdad, as well as the landing of military aircraft with additional equipment.”

On Tuesday, Press TV cited “informed military sources,” saying the Pentagon is withdrawing some of its combat troops from Kuwait.

It may be redeploying them elsewhere in the region. Things are very much influx.

Assassinating General Soleimani and deputy PMU commander Muhandis will be understood in hindsight as a colossal US strategic blunder, weakening its position in the region and on the world stage.

Trump fronts for the imperial state, its military and monied interests.

More clown than leader, his hatemongering bombast, bravado, serial lying, indifference to the public welfare and the rule of law perhaps will prove his undoing.

His recklessness on the world stage surely hastened the US decline while China, Russia and other nations are rising.
