NYT Style Prostitution of the Press
The self-styled newspaper of record has a stable of presstitutes who long ago sold their souls for whatever benefits are afforded them.
Included are speaking gigs, book deals, and electronic media appearance payoffs for serving monied interests and the imperial state over journalism the way it’s supposed to be — what they abandoned as mandated by Times management and editors.
Longtime figure of ill-repute Thomas Friedman is one of the worst of a bad lot, a well-pair presstitute for decades — serving militarists and monied interests at the expense of truth-telling and full disclosure.
Like virtually everyone at the Times, he’s militantly hostile toward Trump for defeating media darling Hillary in 2016 — fearing a possible repeat when the dust settles post-November 3.
In daily Times editions ahead of election day, a near-tsunami of Trump bashing is featured, focusing on the wrong reasons — most important right ones ignored.
In his latest propaganda piece, Friedman headline: “Trump Has Made the Whole World Darker,” saying:
“America is on the ballot on Tuesday (sic) — the stability and quality of our governing institutions (sic), our alliances (sic), how we treat one another (sic), our basic commitment to scientific principles and the minimum decency that we expect from our leaders (sic).”
Election 2020 differs from earlier ones because it’s happening at a time of unparalleled state-sponsored public health and welfare harm to ordinary Americans.
There’s nothing natural about made-in-the-USA covid disease and engineered economic collapse.
What’s been a boon to billionaires has been a bane to most others, the worst almost sure to come no matter which right wing of the one-party state controls things.
What’s happening is unprecedented in modern memory, a second 9/11 in new form, a transformational event, things unlikely returning to their former state in the modern era, maybe never.
Instead of explaining the above and related information, the Times and other establishment media suppress the most important news story of our time, Friedman one of many Times culprits.
There’s plenty about Trump’s domestic and geopolitical agendas to criticize.
The same goes for undemocratic Dems. Both right wings of the one-party state serve privileged interests exclusively — at the expense of the great majority of Americans so they benefit.
None of the above gets explained by the Times or other establishment media.
In support of undemocratic Dems, Friedman ignored their high crimes of war and against humanity, their force-fed neoliberal harshness, their police state actions and other abuses of power.
Like many times before, he focused exclusively on Trump bashing with remarks like:
Despite “four years of Donald Trump’s abusive presidency…most of our core values (sic) (are) still intact.”
Unexplained is what they are. They include smashing other nations to control them, plundering resources worldwide, exploiting ordinary people at home and abroad, and targeting nonbelievers for elimination.
Time and again, I’ve stressed that the nation I grew up in long ago no longer exists.
According to Friedman’s Big Lie, electing Biden over Trump will restore lost “values, norms, and institutions” since the incumbent took office in January 2017.
Based on the historical trend over the last half century, especially during and since the Clinton co-presidency, each new US ruling regime was worst than its predecessors.
I have little doubt that if Biden/Harris defeat Trump, they’ll set a new low for how the nation is governed — both domestically and geopolitically.
Friedman pretended otherwise. Like countless other establishment media pseudo-journalists, he ignored legitimate reasons to criticize Trump, manufacturing phony ones instead.
He and other members of the establishment fourth estate maintain the myth of American exceptionalism and moral superiority.
The true state of the nation is deplorable, how it’s been throughout most of its history.
Because of its endless war on humanity at home and abroad, along with its fantasy democracy from inception, the US is more an obscenity than a responsible nation state.
Today it represents an unprecedented threat to everyone everywhere by its war on the world agenda.
Domestically, it’s an increasingly totalitarian plutocracy, oligarchy and kleptocracy.
Like earlier ones, election 2020 is farcical. They all turn out the same way — assuring governance of, by and for privileged interests exclusively at the expense of the general welfare.
On issues mattering most, Republicans and undemocratic Dems are largely on the same page.
The USA is belligerent, exploitive, lawless, and dismissive of the rights and welfare of ordinary people everywhere.
What Friedman and likeminded Times presstitutes suppress is what’s most important for everyone to know.
No matter which of the two one-party state wings controls the White House and or Congress ahead, dirty business as usual is assured like always before — at the expense of ordinary people everywhere.
