Phony US Charges of Russian Cyberattacks

by Stephen  Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

Longstanding US war on Russia by other means includes phony charges of US election meddling and countless others.

Each time Washington makes accusations against Russia, no corroborating evidence is presented because there is none.

New Russophobic charges came Monday, the Trump regime’s Justice Department saying the following:

“Six (alleged) Russian…military intelligence…officers (were) charged (with) deployment of destructive malware and other disruptive actions in cyberspace (sic).”

Citing no evidence to support its charges, the DOJ claimed they “sought to disrupt the 2017 French elections (sic) and the 2018 Winter Olympic games (sic).”

There’s more, the DOJ claiming  charged Russians “and their co-conspirators engaged in computer intrusions and attacks intended to support Russian government efforts to undermine, retaliate against, or otherwise destabilize…Ukraine (and) Georgia (sic).”

They “retaliate(d) against… efforts to hold Russia accountable for its use of a weapons-grade nerve agent, novichok on foreign soil (sic).”

They “caused nearly $1 billion in losses (sic).”

They’re falsely charged with “conspiracy, computer hacking, wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, and false registration of a domain name (sic).”

Charges without credible evidence are groundless.

Once again, the US invented them against designated Russian officials.

Symbolic alone, they’re all about demonizing Russia to falsely claim its ruling authorities pose a national security threat to the US and West.

No such threat exists — nor by any other foreign countries.

On Monday, Russia’s Washington embassy debunked the latest phony US charges, saying the following:

“It is quite obvious that (they have) nothing to do with reality and (are) aimed only at stirring up Russophobic sentiments in the American society, at launching a ‘witch hunt’ and spy mania.”

“All this has been a distinctive feature of Washington’s political life for several years now.”

“The US authorities are consistently destroying the once pragmatic Russian-American relations and artificially imposing a toxic perception of Russia and everything connected with it on their population.”

“Russia does not and has not had any intention of engaging in any kind of destabilizing operations around the world.”

“This is not in line with our foreign policy, national interests, as well as our understanding of how relations between states are built.”

“Russia respects the sovereignty of other countries and does not interfere in their affairs.”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry debunked the charges as baseless. They come two weeks ahead of US November elections.

Like countless times before, they aim to serve US imperial interests at the expense of world peace, stability, and cooperative relations with other countries.

Russia’s geopolitical agenda is polar opposite US war on humanity. Its imperial partners share guilt.

Unsurprisingly, Britain’s Foreign Office falsely accused “Russia’s military intelligence service (of) conduct(ing) cyber reconnaissance against officials and organizations at the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games due to take place in Tokyo this summer before they were postponed (sic),” adding:

“The (alleged) targets included the Games’ organizers, logistics services and sponsors (sic).”

Russophobic UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Rabb added:

“The (alleged) attacks on the 2020 summer games are the latest in a campaign of Russian malicious cyber activity against the Olympic and Paralympic Games (sic).”

“The GRU’s actions against the Olympic and Paralympic Games are cynical and reckless (sic).”

“We condemn them in the strongest possible terms.”

“The UK will continue to work with our allies to call out and counter future malicious cyber attacks (sic).”

Russian military intelligence hasn’t been called the GRU since 2010.

Note: Britain partners with US high crimes of war and against humanity.

Rare exceptions prove the rule, notably UK support for the JCPOA nuclear deal with Iran.

US/UK/Western Russophobic charges are made with disturbing regularity — no matter how many times before they proved false.

The same goes for phony US charges against China, Iran, and other countries on its target list for regime change.

Time and again, the US and its imperial partners falsely accuse other nations for their own high crimes.

Their hostility to world peace and stability is what the scourge of imperialism is all about.
