Biden/Harris Regime Outreach to Venezuela?

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

The US has been militantly hostile toward Venezuela since Hugo Chavez and his government replaced fascist tyranny with Bolivarian social democracy.

The Clinton co-presidency, Bush/Cheney, Obama/Biden, and Trump sought regime change in the country since Chavez took office took office in February 1999.

US policy toward all nations it doesn’t control is regime change by whatever it takes to achieve its aims.

In March 2013, the Obama/Biden regime killed Chavez, infecting or poisoning him substances causing incurable cancer.

Four state-of-the art surgeries couldn’t save him — the heart, soul, and spirit of the nation lost at the time with his passing.

Nicolas Maduro blamed US dark forces for his death, likely approved by Obama/Biden.

Chavez spoke truth to power, touched important nerves, denounced US imperial lawlessness, and paid with his life — taken from him and the nation by US assassins.

According to Bloomberg News on Friday, “Biden’s advisers are preparing for potential negotiations with (President) Nicolas Maduro” — with conditions.

The incoming US regime demands “free and fair election, offering sanctions relief in return,” Bloomberg reported, citing anonymous US sources.

Fact: Venezuela’s election process is the world’s best, the most open, free, and fair one in the hemisphere and worldwide.

It shames the farcical process in the US and other Western countries. Dirty business as usual wins every time.

So-called outreach to Venezuela by Biden/Harris is phony.

Both right wings of the US war party want governments not controlled by Washington replaced with subservient ones.

That’s what so-called outreach by Biden/Harris is all about.

If Venezuela under Maduro is willing to bend to US interests — at the expense of Bolivarian social democracy serving all Venezuelans equitably — the Biden/Harris regime is willing to restore normal relations.

Nearly 22 years of US war by other means on the nation and its people will end — Bolivarian heart, soul, and spirit with it if things turn out this way.

It’s highly unlikely because Bolivarian social democracy isn’t for sale. It won’t abandoned to US imperial interests.

If talks between the US and Venezuela are initiated, unacceptable Biden/Harris demands will be clear straightaway and rejected.

According to Bloomberg, the incoming US regime “will review existing sanctions to determine where to expand restrictions with the help of international allies and what measures might get lifted if Maduro” bends to its will.

“The Biden team had no comment” to what’s reported above.

“But a (regime) official said (Biden/Harris) will stand with the Venezuelan people (sic) and their call for a restoration of democracy (sic).”

What already exists needs no “restoration” — code language for wanting US control of the country, its resources, and people to replace Bolivarian fairness.

At the same time, Biden/Harris “will seek to rebuild multilateral pressure on Maduro.”

According to Bloomberg, it intends piling on more sanctions, continuing US war on the country by other means, not ending it,  unless and until it sacrifices its sovereignty and social democracy to a higher power in Washington.

Throughout his near half century as US senator, vice president, and soon-to-be top guy, Biden has been and continues to be pro-war, pro-corporate predation, and anti-what just societies most cherish.

At near-age 78, cognitively and physically impaired, using a double in public because of his deteriorated condition — president-in-waiting Harris likely to be heavily involved in policymaking — Biden’s longstanding hostility toward peace, equity, justice, and the rule of law is highly unlike to change when he takes office on January 20.

So-called peace-offering outreach to Venezuela is head-fake deception.

The US doesn’t negotiate. It demands.

Expect nothing to come of alleged Biden/Harris outreach to the Bolivarian Republic.

It’s because US foreign policy is all about controlling other nations, not cooperating with them peacefully and equitably.
