Phony Claims of an Iranian Nuclear Weapons Threat
The Wall Street Journal joined the phony anti-Iran nuclear weapons threat chorus that was debunked countless times before.
Yet it remains one of many Big Lies that won’t die against nations free from US imperial control.
Twice this week, the Journal pushed the nonexistent threat.
“How close is Tehran to developing nuclear weapons,” it asked?
Ignoring what its ruling authorities banned long ago, wanting these weapons eliminated everywhere before they eliminate us, the Journal falsely claimed an Iranian threat that doesn’t exist.
Further Big Lies followed.
Claiming Iran “repeatedly violated the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, reducing the time it would need to produce a nuclear weapon” is utter rubbish — the Journal sounding like Netanyahu and other Israeli extremists.
Unlike the US, Britain, France and Germany, Iran’s nuclear program remains in compliance with the JCPOA and NPT.
Its uranium enriched to a higher level and related activities are permitted by the JCPOA’s Articles 26 and 36 when other signatories breach their obligations.
Unmentioned by the Journal and other establishment media is that Israel is nuclear armed and dangerous.
The Jewish state — together with US-dominated NATO — pose an unparalleled threat to world peace and stability.
In stark contrast, Iran hasn’t attacked another nation in centuries.
Threatening none now, it vows only to retaliate forcefully if attacked by a foreign power — its legitimate self-defense right under international law.
Iran’s nuclear program has no military component. No evidence suggests it wants one because none exists.
Even in its annual assessments of global threats, the US intelligence community affirms Tehran’s legitimate nuclear activities.
According to the Journal, Iran’s announced move to enrich uranium “at 20% purity cross(ed) a red line…its biggest…breach of the 2015” JCPOA.
Iran legitimately increased uranium to its pre-agreement level.
At the same time, it stressed that if the US and E3 countries fulfill their breached JCPOA obligations — along with rescinding illegally imposed sanctions — it’ll reverse recent moves in the interest of mutual cooperation.
Well into its article, the Journal admitted that uranium enriched to at least 90% purity is required for nuclear weapons development and production.
In this and a same-day article, the Journal falsely claimed the following:
“Iran has taken a significant new step toward possible atomic-weapons production (by) starting work on an assembly line to manufacture…equipment it will use to produce uranium metal…”
Iran’s representative to the Vienna-based international organizations Kazem Gharibabadi notified the IAEA of its intention, explaining:
“R&D activities related to the design of an improved type of fuel for the Tehran Research Reactor has started.”
“Natural uranium will be used to produce uranium metal in the first stage.”
Activities begun followed approved legislation by Iran’s Parliament called Strategic Action Plan to Counter Sanctions.
It’s also about safeguarding the country’s national security and related interests.
The process begun has nothing to do with producing nuclear weapons.
When completed, Iran will be a world leader in producing new nuclear fuels for commercial and related uses.
The Journal falsely said that this “development brings Iran closer to crossing the line between nuclear operations (for) civilian use…and nuclear-weapons work (sic).”
It does nothing of the sort.
Returning to the JCPOA by the US is not an Iranian priority.
Its legitimate concern is for the incoming Biden/Harris regime to lift illegal US sanctions, a flagrant UN Charter breach.
Iran seeks cooperative relations with other countries according to the rule of law, confrontation with none.
No evidence suggests an intention by its ruling authorities to develop and produce nuclear weapons.
Instead of explaining the above, the Journal, other establishment media, and hostile-to-the-country hardline US official maintain the myth of an Iranian threat that includes developing nukes.
Reality is polar opposite this rubbish.
The US, NATO, Israel, and their imperial partners threaten world peace and stability, not Iran
Its ruling authorities govern by a higher standard — according to the rule of law.
