No Change in US/Western Hostility Toward Iran

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.orgHome – Stephen Lendman)

It’s been clear for decades that the US dominated West rejects normalized relations with Iran and other nations free from imperial control.

It’s geopolitical agenda prioritizes wanting them transformed into subservient client states.

That’s how the scourge of imperialism operates.

US rage for unchallenged global dominance heightens the risk of WW III.

Instead of breaking from from US control, colonized European countries bend to its will.

Hardliners running things in Washington and their European counterparts prioritize forever wars by hot and/or other means.

The risk of direct military confrontation by the US/West with China, Russia, and Iran are ominously real.

What’s unthinkable could happen by accident or design.

To protect their national security from the threat of US-led aggression, they’re forced to prepare defensively.

Sergey Lavrov explained it saying to preserve peace, prepare for war.

On Tuesday, Iran’s IRGC Quds Force commander General Esmayeel Qaani said “(w)e know how to speak with a country like the US which only understands the language of force.”

It’s a sentiment I’ve expressed many times.

When extended in good faith, diplomatic outreach to the US and West by nations like Iran accomplishes nothing but betrayal every time.

Hoping for Biden to go another way is foolhardy thinking.

US hostility toward Iran is longstanding.

US policy toward the country is built on a foundation of Big Lies and mass deception.

In his Wednesday press briefing, Blinken spokesman Price falsely accused Iran of “moving in the wrong direction (sic), moving further away from its nuclear constraints (sic).”

Unlike the US and E3 countries, Iran is in full compliance with its international law obligations.

Price falsely claimed otherwise. A further litany of Big Lies followed.

No “undeclared nuclear material in Iran” exists, no breaches of international law, no US good faith diplomatic outreach, no outreach at all, no chance for improved relations.

Price and other Biden regime officials repeatedly saying that “Iran cannot be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon” ignores its leadership’s abhorrence of these weapons.

Harping unjustifiably on this nonissue is one of many examples of unbending US hostility toward Iran with no prospect of positive change.

On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif ruled out formal talks with the US on the JCPOA because it’s no longer a party to the landmark agreement.

He slammed E3 countries Britain, France and Germany for siding with hostile US policies toward Iran and breaching their JCPOA obligations, adding:

“(P)ropaganda the Europeans keep repeating that they have fulfilled all their undertakings, certainly they have not fulfilled their undertakings under the nuclear deal,” adding:

“(T)he US and Europe…violated international law.”

By saying one thing and doing another, they proved that they can never be trusted.

While Iran welcomes good faith diplomacy, the US-dominated West rejects it.

Tehran rejects hollow promises and other statements. Actions according to the rule of law alone are acceptable.

Separately, military advisor to Iranian leadership General Yahya Safavi called “the Americans, Zionists, Britons, and their regional servants (a) triangle of evil.”

On Tuesday, a hostile E3 statement falsely accused Iran of “a further (JCPOA) violation (sic).”

Britain, France and Germany have been in flagrant breach of their obligations under the agreement since Trump abandoned it altogether almost three years ago.

Yet they arrogantly, outrageously, and falsely accused Iran of “significantly reduc(ing) safeguards oversight” by IAEA monitors (sic).

Iran voluntarily agreed to let them make unannounced visits to its facilities.

As of Tuesday, that ended because of flagrant beaches of their obligations by the US and E3.

They’re legally obliged to comply with Security Council Res. 2231 that affirmed the landmark agreement — what they refuse to do.

Iran IS in full compliance with its JCPOA obligations.

The E3 statement lied claiming otherwise.

It lied saying that by halting the Additional Protocol, Iran “will significantly constrain the IAEA’s access to sites and to safeguards-relevant information (sic).”

“It will also constrain the IAEA’s ability to monitor and verify Iran’s nuclear program and nuclear-related activities (sic).”

Cold hard reality is polar opposite the above deception.

Unacceptable actions and remarks by the Biden regime and E3 are evidence of the futility of Iran to try engaging with them diplomatically.

No matter what Iran does to show good faith and adhere to its obligations under international law, it’s not good enough.

As long as the country remains from from US control, normalized relations with the West will be virtually impossible to achieve.

The evidence is overwhelming. It’s been this way for over 42 years with nothing suggesting positive change ahead.
