Intense Russophobic Propaganda
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
In support of Washington’s imperial agenda, major media are complicit with its Russia bashing — Big Lies and mass deception their stock in trade.
Defying reality, the Wall Street Journal falsely accused Moscow of “growing belligerence (sic)” — a US/NATO/Israeli specialty, what the Kremlin abhors.
No Russian threat exists to Ukraine or any other countries.
Not according to Journal propaganda, falsely accusing Moscow of “attack(ing) Ukraine and occupy(ing) its sovereign territory (sic)” — a bald-faced Big Lie.
Throughout its near-30 year existence, the Russian Federation never attacked or threatened another country — what the US-dominated West and apartheid Israel do repeatedly.
Minsk I and II aren’t “stalled.” They’re dead because Washington won’t let vassal state Ukraine normalize relations with Russia and/or Donbass by pursuing conflict resolution.
The US wants a permanent state of war by other means on Moscow that’s at risk of turning hot because of escalated Kiev aggression on Donbass.
The Journal called for halting Russia’s Nord Stream gas pipeline to Germany on the phony pretext of “irreparably weaken(ing) Ukraine (sic),” adding:
Moscow “tried to bully Ukraine by threatening gas cutoffs (sic)” — another bald-faced Big Lie.
Russia seeks cooperative relations with other nations, confrontation with none — polar opposite how the scourge of US imperialism operates.
Western media truth and full disclosure on major issues were long ago abandoned in favor propaganda against invented US/European enemies.
Separately, the Journal falsely accused Moscow of threatening full-scale war on Ukraine (sic).
No such threat exists, not now or earlier. Russia will defend its borders, territory and citizens if necessary, its fundamental UN Charter right.
At the same time, its officials continue going all-out to resolve ongoing aggression by Kiev on Donbass.
It’s to no avail because its imperial US master wants a permanent state of war along Ukraine’s border with Russia that risks full-blown conflict.
Al Jazeera is notoriously Russophobic like Western media. — specializing in pro-Western propaganda on most geopolitical issues.
For a time, I listened to some of its online broadcasts until no longer able to tolerate them.
I gave up on BBC and US major media propaganda decades ago.
Since Walter Cronkite anchored the CBS evening news in the 60s and 70s — and became known as “the most trusted man in America” for reporting candidly on US war in Vietnam after visiting the country in late February 1968 — I can’t recall any US media figure remotely approaching his stature on air or in print.
Saying “(w)e are mired in stalemate” at the time, he called the war unwinnable — over seven years before the last of US forces pulled out in April 1975.
Lyndon Johnson reportedly said: “If I’ve lost Cronkite, I’ve lost Middle America.”
Weeks later on national television, he announced his intention not to seek a second term in office — because his low approval rating made him damaged goods in the public mind.
Over a decade ago when I hosted the Progressive Radio News Hour, I tried reaching Cronkite through through his CBS News office to invite him on my program.
After retiring, and at the time around age-90, his secretary said he no longer wished to appear on air because physically he wasn’t the man he used to be.
I’d have been delighted to have on air to discuss a decade of preemptive US war in Vietnam and the deplorable state of US media today if I could have gotten him to speak candidly about it.
Sunday on its website, Al Jazeera sounded like the NYT, falsely claiming that Russia “threatens full-scale war” on Ukraine (sic).
It lied saying “Russia seized Crimea in 2014 (sic).”
It lied accusing Moscow of “provok(ing)” conflict with Ukraine.
It quoted Turkish analyst Bilgehan Ozturk’’s phony claim about Russia, falsely saying:
Ankara is “suffering because of Russia’s continued pressure in northern Syria.”
Along with ignoring Erdogan’s illegal occupation of northern Syrian territory and stealing its oil, he failed to explain that Russia was invited by Damascus to help its military defeat the scourge of US/Western/Turkish support for jihadists involved in committing atrocities against government forces and civilians.
A Russophobic major media war of words accompanies US-support Kiev aggression against Donbass along Russia’s border.
What dominant media suppress is what’s most important for everyone to know.
