On Wednesday, Vladimir Putin spoke candidly about Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and why it was undertaken.
On Feb. 24, he explained why he authorized what’s going on.
The campaign followed years of Russian good faith diplomacy to halt Kiev’s aggression on Donbass — as ordered, orchestrated and directed by US-dominated NATO.
One of the main goals of Russia’s campaign is to halt mass-killings and destruction in Donetsk and Lugansk — to restore peace and stability for its long-suffering people.
They’ve “been subjected to real genocide for nearly eight years in the most barbarous ways,” Putin stressed, a relentless campaign to terrorize them into submission to tyranny.
It’s been perpetrated “through blockade, large-scale punitive operations, terrorist attacks and constant artillery raids.”
“Their only guilt (is) demand(ing) basic human rights” as mandated by international law.
It’s “to live according to their forefathers’ laws and traditions, to speak their native language, and to bring up their children as they want.”
The US-installed Kiev regime “ignored and sabotaged implementation of the Minsk Package of Measures for a peaceful settlement of the crisis and ultimately late last year openly refused to implement it” — as ordered by its higher power in Washington.
Plans were also “implemented…to join NATO” — a red line Russia won’t permit its regime to cross because of the threat it would pose to its security.
With US/NATO support, “the pro-Nazi Kiev regime would have obtained weapons of mass destruction in the foreseeable future (for use) against Russia.”
Hegemon USA operates dozens of biolabs in Ukraine — with diabolical aims in mind.
Russia has “grounds” to believe that bioweapons “were being created in direct proximity to Russia on the territory of Ukraine” with intent to unleash them cross-border.
“Our numerous warnings that such developments posed a direct threat to the security of Russia were rejected with open and cynical arrogance by Ukraine and its US and NATO patrons,” Putin stressed, adding:
“(A)ll our diplomatic efforts were fully in vain.”
“We (were) left with no peaceful alternative to settle the problems that developed through no fault of ours.”
“(W)e were forced to begin this special military operation” with self-defense in mind, as permitted by the UN Charter’s Article 51.
Russia has no intention to occupy and control Ukrainian territory the way hegemon USA operates worldwide.
Russian forces have gone all-out to “avoid civilian losses in Ukrainian cities.”
Its operation is worlds apart from US wars of aggression on invented enemies, its ruthless destruction of vital infrastructure, its mass slaughter of civilians, killing countless millions post-WW II alone.
Putin stressed that before Russia’s campaign began, the Kiev regime was “offered opportunities to avoid hostilities via different channels, to simply withdraw (its) troops from Donbass as an alternative to bloodshed.”
“They did not want to do this.
“(T)his was their decision.”
“(N)ow they will understand what is happening in reality on the ground.”
“The operation is being carried out successfully, in strict conformity with the approved plan” based on international law principles.
Encouraged by hegemon USA, Kiev was “preparing for a scenario of force, a massacre and an ethnic cleansing in Donbass.”
“A massive onslaught on Donbass and later Crimea was just a matter of time.”
“Russian Armed Forces shattered these (diabolical) plans.”
“Kiev was not just preparing for (escalated) war, for aggression against Russia.”
“It was conducting it.”
“There were endless attempts to stage acts of subversion and organize a terrorist underground in Crimea.”
“Hostilities in Donbass and the shelling of peaceful residential areas have continued all these years.”
“Almost 14,000 civilians, including (women and) children have been killed over this time.”
As directed by Pentagon and CIA operatives in recent days and earlier, Nazified Kiev forces have been attacking Donbass cities and towns “with the fervor of fanatics.”
“(A)nd the exasperation of the doomed,” Putin stressed.
“They are acting like the Nazis did when they tried to drag as many innocent victims as they could to their graves.”
US/Western regimes and their MSM echo chamber turned a blind eye to atrocities by Kiev against Donbass for eight years.
They falsely blame Russia for high crimes of war and against humanity committed by the US-installed regime.
“It was no longer possible to tolerate this outrageous attitude towards the people of Donbass,” Putin stressed.
“To put an end to this genocide, Russia recognized the people’s republics of Donbass and signed treaties of friendship and mutual aid with them.”
“Based on these treaties, the republics appealed to Russia for military aid in rebuffing the aggression.”
“We rendered this aid because we simply could not do otherwise.”
“We had no right to act otherwise.”
Had Russian forces intervened in Donbass alone — in response to request for aid by its leadership — it would have been a bandaid solution, not a more permanent one, Putin stressed.
It would have left Nazi-infested Ukraine free to continue cross-border aggression against its people.
“(A) new frontline would have been extended around Donbass and its borders” for perpetual war, Putin explained, adding:
“It would have been fueled by revanchist hysteria of the Kiev regime, as NATO deployed its military infrastructure faster and more aggressively.”
“(W)e would have been faced with the fact that the attack, the offensive weapons of the alliance were already at our borders.”
In defense of Russia’s security, “(w)e will certainly ensure the security of Russia and our people and will never allow Ukraine to be a bridgehead for aggressive actions against our country.”
“We remain ready to discuss matters of fundamental importance to Russia’s future during the talks.”
“This includes Ukraine’s status as a neutral country, and demilitarization and deNazification.”
“Our country has done everything it could to organize and hold these talks, realizing that it is important to use every opportunity to save people and their lives.”
Hegemon USA, its NATO vassal states, and Nazi-infested Ukraine don’t give a damn about peace, equity, justice, the rule of law, and democratic rule — just the opposite.
“Kiev’s Western patrons are pushing (the regime) to continue bloodshed.”
“They incessantly supply Kiev with weapons and intelligence, as well as other types of assistance, including military advisers and mercenaries.”
Their sanctions war on Russia caused soaring energy, food, transportation and other prices throughout the West and elsewhere.
Putin wants Americans and others throughout the West to know that the above and related hardships were made by the ruling regimes of these countries, not Russia, adding:
“The truth is that problems faced by millions of people in the West are the result of many years of actions by the ruling elite of your respective countries, their mistakes, and short-sighted policies and ambitions.”
“This elite is not thinking about how to improve the lives of their citizens in Western countries.”
“They are obsessed with their own self-serving interests and super profits” — at the expense of ordinary people at home and worldwide.
“(T)he global economy and global trade as a whole suffered a major blow, as did trust in the US dollar as the main reserve currency.”
Illegitimately freezing some of what belongs to Russia “marks the end of the reliability of so-called first-class assets.”
“The US and EU defaulted on their obligations to Russia.”
Unlike Western regimes, Russia respects property rights and all else mandated by international law.
Hegemon USA would have acted in similar hostile fashion against Russia by inventing other pretexts if its Ukraine campaign wasn’t launched, Putin explained.
Containing Russia has been longstanding US/Western policy throughout the post-WW II period.
What’s going on now is an example in its ugliest form — short of mutually assured destruction hot war.
China, Iran and other countries free from US control are at similar risk to what’s going on against Russia.
Is global war 3.0 where things are heading?
Are lunatics in charge of the Washington asylum and their Western counterparts crazy enough to risk it by pushing things beyond a point of no return?
Time and again, I stressed that the nation I grew up in long ago no longer exists.
Never beautiful, never the indispensable state, never a beacon of democratic freedoms, never a model for other states to emulate, today it’s an unparalleled menace to everyone everywhere.
