Straight Talk by Sergey Lavrov on Ukraine and Related Issues

Double-talk by US/Western regimes and their MSM press agents doesn’t rise to the level of bad fiction.

Reality on the ground in Ukraine is worlds apart from fake news reports on Russia’s SMO in Ukraine.

Its forces are badly battered and beaten — on their back foot in the face of steady Russian advances.

Last weekend, Sergey Lavrov once again stressed the following:

Russia spent 8 years trying to end Kiev’s aggression on Donbass diplomatically — to “avoid direct conflict.”

Undermining its good faith efforts — by the empire of lies and its NATO vassals — left Moscow with one option alone, a military one with, first and foremost, protecting its security in mind from a hostile cross-border threat.

And what did hegemon USA-dominated NATO do in response?

Their ruling regime threw “political correctness, propriety, rules, and legal norms” out the window to wage proxy war on Russia.

Their Russophobic rage leaves nothing off the table — ignoring the growing risk of pushing things toward direct East/West confrontation with nukes if things go too far.

Lavrov also noted the threat to Russian diplomats in hostile countries.

Working “under extreme conditions,” their health and lives are threatened because of US-generated anti-Russia rage.

It didn’t emerge like Topsy. Simmering for years, US dark forces planned it long ago to unleash at a time, place and way of their choosing.

According to Lavrov, US anti-Russia planning began at “the end of the Cold War” in late 1991.

Its dominant dark forces decided that US global hegemony is best pursued by advancing NATO’s war-making alliance to Russia’s borders.

Vowing no eastward expansionin the 1990s was a ruse.

Dominant US hardliners never had any intention of fulfilling what was promised — just the opposite.

Today, Biden regime, Pentagon and CIA lunatics are waging proxy war on Russia to the last Ukrainians — expendable foot soldiers used to advance US imperial interests.

At the same time, European nations are shooting themselves in the foot by going along with Washington’s sanctions war on Russia instead of opposing it.

It’s benefitting Wall Street, Big Oil and US merchants of death and destruction at the expense of European economies.

Largely self-sufficient Russia is handling the sanctions onslaught well by having prepared in advance for such an eventuality.

Not European nations. Allying with hegemon USA subserviently  harmed their economies and populations.

The longer they go along with what they should have rejected straightaway, the greater the self-inflicted harm.

Along with pushing things recklessly toward direct confrontation with Russia, much the same US strategy targets China — and other nations free from its control.

Efforts to isolate, weaken and undermine these nations fail whenever tried.

Lavrov stressed that an “overwhelming majority” of Russian allies refused to go along with US/Western sanctions.

Hegemon USA proved time and again that it threatens the independence and security of nations unwilling to bend to its will at the expense of harm to their economies and people.

No one is safe from its global rampaging.

More nations and their leaders are aware of the threat.

Given years of US hostile actions in the run-up to and after Russia’s SMO in Ukraine began, its officials understand it chapter and verse.

So do nations raped and destroyed by the empire of lies throughout the post-WW II period.

Lavrov stressed that “Russian diplomacy act(s) with great resolve to fend off adversarial attacks against us, while…consistently, calmly and patiently reinforc(ing) our positions to facilitate sustained development from within (to) improve the quality of life for its people.”

In stark contrast, hegemon USA and its Western vassals serve wealth, power and privileged interest exclusively — while exploiting and abusing the vast majority of their people.

A Final Comment

On Monday, Russia’s Defense Ministry said the following:

“As a result of talks with representatives of (largely Nazified) Ukrainian troops that (have been holed up inside Mariupol’s)  Azovstal steel plant, an agreement was reached on May 16 to evacuate the wounded.”

They’ll be taken to a Donetsk medical facility for treatment 40 km east of city.

While treated, they’ll be held in DPR custody.

Fighters responsible for crimes of war, against humanity and related atrocities will be held fully accountable.

Does evacuation of wounded Ukrainian fighters from Azovstal suggest that others in the plant are on the brink of coming out because the alternative is death?

The answer should be known in the coming days.
