For AI, truth and full disclosure reporting are exceptions to the rule.
Most often, the organization serves the interests of its funding sources, notably hegemon USA.
On Friday, a new AI report virtually expressed support for the scourge of Ukrainian Nazis — Azov thugs, captured, detained and to face Nuremberg-style justice for ones guilty of war crimes, according to the rule of law.
On May 16, a total of 2,439 Azov Nazis and likeminded thugs — ones holed up in Mariupol’s Azovstal steel plant — laid down their arms and surrendered.
Unlike how they grossly mistreated captives — especially Russian nationals — they’ve been treated humanely as required by Fourth Geneva and other international law, the wounded in their ranks given medical treatment by Russia and Donetsk freedom fighters.
To its disgrace, AI virtually called Nuremberg-style justice for Ukrainian Nazi war criminals “illegal and unacceptable (sic).”
The same perversion of reality applies to calling Russia’s liberating SMO a “war of aggression against Ukraine (sic).”
AI disgracefully ignored over 8 years of US-orchestrated and directed aggression by Ukraine against Donbass civilians and freedom fighters.
It said nothing about good faith Russian diplomatic efforts to bring Ukraine into compliance with Minsk I and II conflict resolution agreements.
Nor did AI explain that Russia launched its SMO as a last resort — to prevent an imminent invasion of Ukrainian troops into Donbass and its Crimean Republic by over 100,000 regime troops massed on their borders.
Instead, AI’s report reads like something from the Biden regime’s State Department — substituting Big Lies and mass deception for truth and full disclosure.
Russia’s tribunal justice is only for Ukrainian POWs guilty of crimes of war, against humanity and/or related atrocities — no others.
Ignoring this reality, AI said the following:
“International law prohibits a detaining power from prosecuting prisoners of war for having participated in hostilities, or for lawful acts of war committed in the course of armed conflict.”
And this:
“By staging such sham trials (sic), Russia – as the occupying power – is making a mockery of justice and a public theater of courts, transforming them into vehicles for propaganda. (sic).”
And this:
“Any attempts by Russian authorities to try Ukrainian prisoners of war in so-called international tribunals (sic) set up by armed groups under Russia’s effective control in Mariupol are illegal and unacceptable (sic).”
And this:
“International humanitarian law prohibits courts being set up solely to try prisoners of war.”
And this:
“Willfully stripping fair trial rights from prisoners of war, which is precisely what Russia’s action will do (sic), amounts to a war crime (sic).
And this rubbish:
“To choose Mariupol as host of these tribunals is particularly cruel and shocking (sic), given Russia’s recent relentless attacks and siege which turned the city into a wasteland before its capture in May (sic).”
And by falsely accusing Russian forces of “deliberately target(ing) civilians,” AI knowingly and egregiously turned truth on its head.
At the same time, it ignored years of indisputable Ukrainian war crimes, notably its attacks on Donbass civilians and related atrocities.
And claiming that Ukrainian POWs are at “risk of being tortured to extract a confession” cited no credible evidence to support the accusation — because there is none.
Nor does any evidence suggest that Ukrainian war criminals will not held accountable according to the rule rule of law.
According to justice at Nuremberg in 1945-46:
Tribunal Chief Justice Robert Jackson called aggression “the supreme international crime against peace…the greatest menace of our times.”
The Tribunal defined crimes against peace as “planning, preparation, initiation, or waging of wars of aggression, or a war in violation of international treaties, agreements or assurances, or participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of the foregoing.”
Crimes against humanity were defined to include “murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation, and other inhumane acts committed against any civilian population, before or during the war…”
The same standard applied to “persecutions on political, racial or religious grounds in the execution of or in connection with any crime within the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, whether or not in violation of the domestic law of the country where perpetrated.”
The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) was established to address crimes of war, against humanity, aggression and genocide committed by individuals.
The above principles apply to how Russian trials of Ukrainian war criminals will be conducted — in strict compliance with the rule of law.
Instead of setting the record straight, AI turned it on its head — in support of US/Western Russia bashing by making stuff up, concealing truth and full disclosure.
Not a shred of credible evidence suggests that “violation(s) of the right to a fair trial in Russia” exist.
Nor “endemic use of torture, fabrication of evidence, and politically-motivated prosecutions.”
Nor “abductions, killings, unlawful deprivation of liberty, torture and other ill-treatment, and suppression of dissent.”
All of the above and similar rubbish about Russia by AI are bald-faced Big Lies — while ignoring indisputable high crimes by Ukrainian Nazis and US/Western ones for time immemorial against invented enemies.
AI’s latest so-called report isn’t its first fake news Russia bashing one.
Nor will it likely be its last.
Instead of focusing accusations on Ukrainian war criminals, AI’s new report falsely blamed Russia for their high crimes.
