Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (MZ below) explained the following on Friday:
Vladimir Putin “launch(ed) a (legitimate) special military operation in accordance with Article 51, Chapter 7 of the UN Charter…”
He acted “with the authorization of (Russia’s upper house) Federation Council and pursuant to the treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance signed with the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic and ratified by parliament.”
There’s no ambiguity about the mission’s aims.
The campaign has nothing to do with waging war on Ukraine, nothing to do with occupying or otherwise controlling its territory, nothing to do with pursuing imperial aims.
All of the above is how hegemon USA-dominated NATO has operated throughout the post-WW II period.
The Russian Federal complies with the rule of law domestically and in relations with other countries on the world stage.
The goal of Russia’s operation is with protecting its jeopardized security in mind.
It’s “to protect the people (of Donbass) who, for the last eight years, have been suffering humiliation and genocide at the hands of the Kiev regime that came to power through an anti-constitutional coup in 2014” — staged by the Obama/Biden regime.
“One more task of the operation is to bring current ‘officials,’ the puppet regime, to justice for crimes against civilians, including citizens of the Russian Federation, committed throughout those years, and also to demilitarize and deNazify Ukraine.”
Since the Feb. 2014 Maidan coup, Moscow has gone all-out diplomatically “to urge Kiev authorities (and their US/Western sponsors) to stop the punitive operation against their own people, to settle the conflict in Donbass by peaceful, political and diplomatic means, to establish a direct dialogue with Donetsk and Lugansk as per Paragraph 4 of the Package of Measures, which states that the Ukrainian authorities are to launch a dialogue on the modalities of holding local elections and the future status of these regions in accordance with Ukrainian legislation.”
Eight years of good faith diplomatic outreach by Moscow to Kiev and Western regimes was a colossal exercise in futility because hegemon USA prioritizes a permanent state of war along Russia’s borders.
In breach of its own Constitution and statute laws, a state of war has existed between Kiev and Donbass as ordered by the US-dominated West — with no end of it in prospect without legitimate Russian intervention against what no one should tolerate.
At this time, all-out made-in-the-USA information war is raging against Russia for daring to challenge hegemon USA-self-declared right to rule the world unchallenged.
Ignored is that for months, US and other NATO regimes have been pouring heavy and other weapons into Ukraine for perpetual war on Donbass, not defense as falsely claimed.
At the same time, US-dominated NATO forces menacingly surround Russia’s land, sea and air space borders.
As ordered by US/Western dark forces, Kiev breached the letter and spirt of Minsk I and II conflict resolution agreements it accepted in late 2014 and early 2015.
At all times, US/Western information war rages against invented enemies like Russia.
Since last week, it reached unprecedented levels against the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials — in support of US-installed, Nazi-infested, fascist tyranny in Kiev and forever aggression on Donbass.
In response to US/Western war of words on Russia, MZ stressed that “during the special military operation in Ukraine, Russian armed forces have not launched missile, airborne or artillery strikes on the country’s cities.”
“The strikes take out military infrastructure, air defense facilities, military airfields and the Ukrainian air force.”
“Nobody is creating a deliberate threat to the civilian population.”
“The mission includes only what the President of our country stated and what the Russian Defence Ministry reports daily.”
Unlike US/NATO terror-bombing strikes that indiscriminately massacre civilians in one country after another preemptively attacked, Russia has gone out of its way to avoid harming noncombatants.
In response to the Kiev regime’s severing of relations with Russia — as ordered or permitted by hegemon USA — MZ said the following:
It wasn’t Russia’s choice.
Ruptured relations are the result of Kiev’s “purposeful Russophobic policy since the 2014 bloody coup, termination in 2018 of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, and adoption of a variety of discriminatory laws targeting the rights and freedoms of Russian speakers in Ukraine.”
The US-installed puppet regime in Kiev lacks legitimacy to rule and “set goals (contrary to) the interests of the Ukrainian people.”
It’s only permitted to “carry out directives from across the ocean” in Washington — an exploitive colonizer-colonized relationship.
Kiev’s domestic and foreign policies are hostile to peace, the rule of law and interests of the Ukrainian people.
The vast majority of its 44 million people are mistreated, otherwise abuses and exploited.
At this time, Russian/Ukrainian diplomatic relations established 30 years ago in Feb. 1992 no longer exist.
Given their dismal state for years, Kiev’s announced move didn’t surprise.
Its envoy to Russia has been absent from Moscow since the Obama/Biden regime’s Feb. 2014 coup.
No one threatened Ukrainian officials in Russia — in stark contrast threats against Moscow’s diplomats in the US-controlled country, MZ explaining:
Russia’s embassy and consular offices “were constantly besieged by the nationalists who threw Molotov cocktails at them, stormed our missions, damaged buildings and put people in danger,” adding:
“Our diplomats and their families received threats on numerous occasions and could neither function nor work normally.”
They were withdrawn days earlier because their safety was jeopardized.
A previous article stressed that ongoing events are eerily similar to what preceded earlier made-in-the-USA wars on invented enemies.
Once started, there’s high risk of things spinning out of control.
War between hegemon USA and Russia should give everyone pause because of the destructive power of today’s super-weapons.
Yet what’s unthinkable is possible because of the megalomaniacal drive for hegemony by both right wings of the US war party.
Hellbent for ruling the world unchallenged, is war to end all futures inevitable?
Is crossing a rubicon of no return assured by accident or design?
Two global wars since 1914 suggest that another is possible because lunatics in high places think it’s winnable.
If cooler heads in the US and West don’t step back from what’s unthinkable, will mutually assured destruction become the ultimate final solution?
